benwell311's NHL Core Plays: Sunday, January 21st
Goalie
Marc-Andre Fleury – With Connor Hellebuyck playing yesterday, there is no guarantee he plays or is effective playing back-to-back. Thus, we will consider a pivot for the time being. Fleury enters this game against Carolina in top form, allowing just 16 goals over his 11 starts dating back to mid-December when he returned from injury. That is top notch stuff, and it has not all been a product of home cooking. The Hurricanes can be a pesky offense that can pop off due to their ability to drive play, but the Golden Knights have been very strong in limiting quality shot attempts and scoring chances at 5v5 over the past month. In those 12 games, Vegas has allowed the ninth fewest scoring chances and fourth lowest high-danger shot attempts per hour at 5v5. With Sebastian Aho out of the lineup and the Staal line likely to get bogged down against the Marchessault line, Fleury should again produce a solid stat line.
Other Goalies: Connor Hellebuyck, Jonathan Quick
