The Timberwolves needed a few things to happen in Game 4 in order to stave off elimination, and they got them. Anthony Edwards (despite six turnovers) was one assist shy of a triple double. Karl Anthony-Towns had his best game of the series easily on fantastic shooting. They also got lucky with bad shooting games from Kyrie Irving and P.J. Washington.
Irving is the veteran of the team who has lots of postseason experience. I expect a much better performance from him in Game 5, as he knows it’s possible for a team to come back from a 3-1 deficit firsthand. Washington is such a talented player too that I expect a return to form from him.
Edwards had his best performance of the series in Game 4, but the Timberwolves need him to be special in order to win Game 5. While Towns playing better helps a lot, Edwards is the engine that causes the Timberwolves to win or lose above anything else.
With that all said, the pick I’m going with in this game is the Mavericks covering +4.5 points. I don’t feel great about either team winning over the other. I see this game being close though, and Dallas covering as underdogs gives my bet two ways to win.
