Big Events Breakdown Week 5: CB35 takes down DFFC, FOC seats!

rg homepage bigevents breakdown medium

Another week of million dollar qualifiers is in the books and, as usual, there were several RotoGrinders members who showed up at the top of leaderboards across the industry. For those of you who might not be aware, Fanduel, Draftstreet and DraftKings are giving away $1,000,000 to the winner’s of their respective football championships, and another round of qualifiers kick off this Sunday. StarStreet is also providing their users with quite a treat, sending their finalists to the Playboy Mansion to compete for $250,000. Big prizes will continue to be up for grabs for weeks to come, but let’s take a look in the rearview mirror and review the big Week 5 winners… All RotoGrinders members will have their names bolded.

Fanduel $109 FFFC Qualifier

4 chululalid $1,000

6 themoneyman $600
7 lionsorbust $600
8 shurcanpikem $600
9 themoneyman $500
10 iwontbudge $500

A big congratulations to dips56 for reigning in a seat to the FFFC! Luckily for him, he didn’t have to worry much about Monday Night players as no one in the top ten had anyone of importance going (two entries that were a ways off had Nick Folk). Dips is a mainstay atop RotoGrinders leaderboards, currently holding down 23rd in the overall rankings, 25th in the TPOY rankings, and 52nd on the NFL Grinder leaderboard. The same can be said for headchopper, who finished 5th in this one and is currently inside the top 26 in our overall, TPOY, Monthly, NFL and MLB rankings. Lionsorbust came in at #7, and he’s still working his way up the leaderboards, currently sitting in 747th in the overall rankings.

8 hardcoredollar $200
9 wingsters $200
10 dips56 $175

Only one RotoGrinders member in the top ten, and it’s dips56 again, this time with a 10th place finish. Definitely a weekend to remember for him. His lineup in this tournament compared to his winning lineup in the $109 Q was very different; about half of his lineup was changed, which isn’t usually something you see when the same name pops up on multiple leaderboards.

9 aceinjacobysface $100
10 drsilvershot $100

Not something that happens all too often, but not a single grinder in the top ten. The field in this tournament is enormous (biggest of any main event qualifier), which makes it much harder.. Moving on.

Draftstreet $420 DFFC Qualifier

7 dinkpiece $1000
8 rickmilitar $900
9 Djohnston $800
10 condia $800

Damn Militar strikes again! Maxdalury had the highest score of the RG members, finishing third and taking home $2,200. He is currently 9th on our overall leaderboard as well as 21st on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and 34th in the TPOY rankings. Leroysaces took down 5th place, and is sitting in 296th in our Monthly Grinder leaderboard. Dinkpiece finishes 7th in this tournament for the second straight week, which isn’t suprising considering he is 5th in our NFL Grinder leaderboard in addition to being #8 overall. The number one overall grinder, Condia, rounds out the top ten.

Draftstreet $109 DFFC Qualifier

7 Anima1 $500
8 msidla $400
9 primetime420 $300
10 anonymoose $300

Cb35 had one of the most epic sweats of the year, as he and headChopper (Chop) went head-to-head for the DFFC seat late into the Monday Night game. CB needed a huge night from Jacquizz Rodgers, and he got it. Add that to the fact that Chop had the Jets D and you have a sweat for the ages. CB currently holds down the #215 spot in the overall rankings as well as 61st on our Monthly Grinder leaderboard, but I expect to see those numbers continue to rise over the NFL season. You all know about the headChopper, who sits in 9th place in the TPOY rankings as well as 19th on the overall leaderboard. Metsfan828 finished 3rd in this one, and he is currently holding down 14th on the overall leaderboard in addition to 22nd in the TPOY rankings. Msidla (aka Mattness) rang in with two top ten finishes (4th and 8th), and is sitting pretty so far in October, as he is 10th in our Monthly Grinder leaderboard. Primetime420 cashed out in 9th and is ranked inside the top ten in both the overall and TPOY rankings.

7 Texan113 $250
8 Golf Coach $150
9 chip474 $100
10 bboozen $100

Cb35 was just .5 points away from a second DFFC seat, but msidla barely held him off. The third place entry also was very close and had Jeremy Kerley in action on Monday night, so this one really came down to the wire. Golf Coach makes another appearance in the top ten, finishing in 8th place this week. He is 106th in our overall rankings in addition to 50th in our NFL Grinder leaderboard, and is especially active on Draftstreet.

7 headchopper $0
8 FantasyAlarm $0
9 headchopper $0
10 Mike5754 $0

A lot of familiar names on this leaderboard. PrimeTime420 took down a trip to the mansion in style, finishing over 33 points higher than second place. The Romo to Dez and Witten combo certainly worked out well for him. A big congratulations is in order due to PrimeTime’s complete dominance of this one. Whiskeytavon4 (80th in overall rankings, 135th in TPOY) finished in second, while the infamous naapstermaan barely stays in the money with a third place finish. Naap is running away with the TPOY award. BirdWings comes in just outside the money in 4th, but hey, this guy wins a lot. He is fourth in both our overall rankings and on the NFL Grinder Leaderboard, not to mention he was second overall on the MLB Grinder leaderboard this season. Headchopper had two top ten finishes, ringing in at #7 and #9. FantasyAlarm comes in at #8 and Mike5754 (73rd in TPOY rankings, 38th on Monthly leaderboard) rounds out the top ten.

6 superbowlhomeboy $109
7 SyracuseSlappers $109
8 radthad954 $109
9 trmp31 $109
10 Mirage88 $109

Gateman07 wins his trip the mansion with a Dallas/Denver stack, which won a lot of people money this past weekend. Not much of a sweat for him either, as he had it pretty well wrapped up going into Monday Night. Gateman is currently 51st on our overall leaderboard in addition to #27 on the NFL Grinder Leaderboard. It’s not suprising to see PrimeTime in second place, as his lineup nearly won him two seats to the PFFC (he was 6 points out of first). Our very own Cal (RotoGrindersCal) takes down third place, and holds a very respectable #63 on the overall leaderboard as well as 17th in the TPOY rankings. Fantasyqb (393rd in the TPOY rankings) took down fifth place, while SyracuseSlappers followed up winning a PFFC seat last week with a #7 finish in this one, and it’s pretty obvious he is not content with just one entry. I wish him the best of luck in winning another one; he’s just inside the top 1000 in our overall rankings, but he is obviously figuring out this game pretty quickly. Radthad954 (135th in the overall rankings, 47th in TPOY rankings) finished 8th, trmp31 (250th on Monthly leaderboard, 516th on NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished 9th, and Mirage88 (24th on Monthly leaderboard, 34th on NFL Grinder leaderboard) completes a nice run of RG members with a #10 finish. RotoGrinders dropped the hammer on this tournament, with 8 of the top 10 being members.

Mirage88 goes from a top ten finish on StarStreet to winning an FOC entry on Fantasy Feud. Mirage is new to the DFS community but is already showing that he can compete at a high level across various sites, which will set him up for success in the future. He is 1251st in the overall rankings, but is 24th on the Monthly leaderboard, so expect that overall ranking to rise sharply over the next few weeks. Speaking of players who succeed across the industry… ehafner (3rd in overall rankings, 6th on NFL Grinder leaderboard, 1st on MLB leaderboard), coming off his huge week 4, finishes just inside the money at #5. Nro (aka Kaetorade) took down 7th place, and is currently #12 on the overall leaderboard in addition to his #10 spot on the NFL Grinder leaderboard. Metsrock22x (149th on Monthly leaderboard, 445th in overall rankings) finished up in 8th, rounding out the RG members.

Cb35’s big weekend continues, as he wins another major qualifier on a different site. This one wasn’t as tight as the DFFC qualifier, but CB still had to sweat this one out a bit as well. Bilal Powell was a threat to him, and CB actually had the Falcons D, so I cannot imagine how he handled watching the Monday Night game with this much on the line. Luckily for him, Powell played his worst game of the year and he outscored second place by just over nine points. Emac wasn’t too far behind with a fifth place finish… Emac is currently 42nd on our overall leaderboard, 54th in the TPOY rankings, 26th on the Monthly leaderboard and 53rd in the NFL Grinder rankings. Our very own DB (db730) finished in 9th place, and he also has a very impressive history. He is ranked inside the top 100 on every leaderboard we have, most notably 38th in the overall rankings.

Battery1975 took home a cool $12,000 in this one. He is especially active on Fanduel and Draftkings in both NFL and MLB action. Battery is still working his way up the leaderboards but twelve grand added to his bankroll should make that happen rather quickly (unless he blows it at the club this weekend). Judson23 finished third, and he is a guy who is just starting to get his feet wet with NFL play this season, but is off to a great start.

PrimeTime420 puts together another top-ten lineup, this time good for $7,500 and an FMGF entry. Markness (aka msidla) adds to his impressive weekend with $1,750 and 10th place in the 250K.

Yet again, Grinder nation stakes it claim to multiple main event seats and a top ten finish in all but one of the major tournaments this week. Another big shout out to dips56, cb35, Mirage88, Gateman07, PrimeTime420 and msidla for taking down major qualifiers. Last week we had five individuals take down qualifiers; this week we have six. CB gets the headline due to the sweat he endured while awaiting his fate on Monday Night, and the simple fact that he took down two qualifiers (and almost a third) on different sites… I guess he should send Romo a gift basket if he takes home the one million. Week 6 kickoff is right around the corner, so get your lineups ready and pray you strike gold!
