The NFL season kicks off with a titanic matchup. The Bills will travel to open their season against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams. Josh Allen looks to lead the Bills’ high octane offense against the well-balanced Rams that surely look to open up their campaign for a repeat with a home victory. Let’s get into some key information about the game such as betting odds, latest roster news, and last year’s stats.

Bills vs. Rams Same Game Parlay Preview

Thursday Night Football Odds & Storylines

At the time of this writing, the Bills are -2.5 road favorites (-110) on FanDuel Sportsbook with an implied game total of 52 points. The Bills come into the contest seemingly in full health, with the addition of rookie James Cook to the fold and the subtraction of Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley. Gabriel Davis was the talk of the offseason with many pundits expecting a big breakout after an immense playoff run.

The Rams will be without Andrew Whitworth after his retirement as well as Van Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. Jefferson will be week-to-week with a knee injury while Beckham lingers in free agency hoping to latch on to a team after grabbing his first championship ring. The Rams added Allen Robinson to the offense — a top tier threat outside. Further, Cam Akers seems to be ready to receive the full green light — although we’ve been burnt by Sean McVay before. The Rams will need a full complement against a Bills’ defense that finished the season with the fewest yards per game allowed on defense.

Bills-Rams Parlay Picks & Props

Josh Allen Passing Yards

Boy, I am a sucker for offense in primetime games — especially when a potential shootout is thrust upon us to open the season. The Rams defense is very, very, very good. The Bills did a pretty good job of limiting yards last season. However, come on, it is opening night! I want to find a way to incorporate Josh Allen and his passing yards into my parlay tonight. The beauty of the one game parlay on most sports betting sites is that we can attack alternate market depending on what type of payoff we are looking for. The passing yardage line for Josh Allen on FanDuel is 274.5. However, we can take a lower number if we would like.

GridironIQ projects Allen for 299 yards this evening. I will find a way to make this one of my legs.

Cooper Kupp Receiving Yards

The Bills’ defense was stout against opposing offenses. That said, most opposing offenses aren’t the Los Angeles Rams. The Bills ceded plenty of receiving yards to the Tampa Bay Bucs late in the season. While the Bills are very good, I do think that a good offense can at least accumulate yardage throughout the game. So, why not attack the most likely option for Matt Stafford.

Kupp put together a historic season in 2021 and should knock on the door of his own 17-game records this season. The Rams are put together very similarly in 2022 with exception to the mystery that is Cam Akers. How much usage will the stud running back take away from the passing game? Will Sean McVay unleash his halfback? Will the Rams remain pass heavy with Cooper Kupp commanding a high percentage of those throws?

I want to include some form of Kupp’s receiving yards in my parlay. We will get to this soon but taking overs on the Rams will boost our odds if we favor the Bills (I do.).

Tyler Higbee Receptions

With Van Jefferson out this evening and Odell Beckham elsewhere, we will be able to observe the change in the Rams offense. Allen Robinson is a wonderful addition but Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee remain as the most steady options available to Matt Stafford in the first game of the season.

Higbee hovered around the 5-6 reception range last season with a very low yards per target number. Higbee converted most of his targets into catches mostly because he is not used downfield that often. Since, I am not as comfortable with yardage, attacking Higbee’s catches feels like a good addition.

The Bills Cover

While I am not a big fan of the road teams in prime time games, this is the first game on the schedule. Both teams are more than prepared to get going. Further, I am very bullish on the Bills and their futures this season. While the Rams won a championship last season, 2022-2023 could very well be the Bills’ season. The offense should be extremely potent with a talent defense behind Josh Allen and company. I want to use a Bills victory to build some negative correlation to this parlay to boost my odds. The current line at -2.5 merits consideration as does the moneyline (-130 at time of this writing).

TNF Single Game Parlay Review

So, we know what legs we want to include. Unfortunately, FanDuel, at the time of this writing, does not include any options for player receptions for their parlays. Caesars does not offer teased prop lines. So, if I want to use Caesars, I cannot move the reception number for Tyler Higbee or the yardage number for Cooper Kupp. Since Higbee’s line is set at 4.5 and the juice is heavily on the under, I don’t think I love the way that correlates with a Bills victory.

So, that leaves us with DraftKings Sportsbook. I am going to be a bit conservative tonight and look for boost opportunities under promotions. DraftKings Sportsbook is offering boosts for same game parlays for each game in Week 1. A four-leg parlay will be boosted 25%. So, here are the legs for tonight’s parlay.

Buffalo Bills -2.5
Josh Allen Over 279.5 Passing Yards
Cooper Kupp Over 94.5 Receiving Yards
Tyler Higbee 4+ Receptions

Parlay Price: +750 (Boosted to +937)

Risk: 1/2 unit to win 4.685 units

Good luck on the opening night of the NFL season. Share your parlays with me on Twitter and any other plays you are making for the game. First touchdown scorers? Touchdowns? DFS lineups? I want to hear it all. Thanks for reading.
