History of the Challenge

It’s been almost one year now since Buffalo66 issued his first challenge . After 5 months of no takers, and again backed by his confidence in Daily Fantasy Projections , Buffalo once again addressed the Daily Fantasy world in a second post that clarified the stipulations of his challenge and also upped the ante. After months of waiting, finally someone stepped up to accept the challenge…well, kind of. RotoGrinders recently spoke with Buffalo66 to get the history behind, and the events leading up to: BUFFALO VS. BLINDERS

On July 22nd, Blinders, an employee of FantasySportsLive and a long-term Grinder, accepted the challenge after a few concessions from Buffalo. “The current challenge is NOTHING like I wanted it to be. I wanted multiple sports contests on the same day, something Blinders would never agree to. A typical October Sunday for me includes NFL-NHL-MLB-NASCAR all running at the same time… on mutiple sites! No one else (to my knowledge) records results in all 5 sports” Buffalo explained to me in a recent chat on negotiating the contest. In discussing why the challenge was issued, Buffalo explained: “I wanted the challenge to be a way to get action. In my experience, most players refused to play me on a regular basis, except in [multi-player contents]. I always thought Kaiseroll13 would jump at the chance. I figured he would pound me in hoops and I would pound him in hockey, so it would be a fair fight.” The challenge stipulations offered by Buffalo in his second post in March are summarized below:

The Original Buffalo Challenge

Is the title of “Best Daily Fantasy Player” at stake?

Well, negotiating ensued, and it would seem that Blinders wore him down enough that Buffalo finally gave in to his need for action. Buffalo agreed to Blinders’ terms and ‘The Buffalo Challenge v1.0’ (as coined by Buffalo) got underway! Below is what was agreed upon or changed from Buffalo’s original challenge by both parties:

One term, not quite agreed to yet, is the title the winner of the challenge gets to boast. While Blinders believes that whoever wins “is deemed the current best all around daily fantasy sports player in the world”, Buffalo disagrees. “If I were to play for that title, the stakes would have to be much higher and include both autopicks and NASCAR. I think he negotiated a semi-luckfest that gives him a fighting chance. Until you show me someone who plays 5-plus sports, across multiple sites with better results, I still think I am the best all around player.” When discussing the amount of luck involved, Buffalo stated that: “Either one of us could run horribly [due to] injuries and the like, and come out the overall loser, but I don’t think this challenge is for any sort of title.”

Ongoing Coverage
