2024 BMW Championship Forecast and Projections

will-zalatoris-800x480

We’re teeing off for the BMW Championship in Castle Rock, CO (which sounds suspiciously like a city from Game of Thrones). Despite some chances for afternoon downpours every day, the winds should mostly cooperate, and the bulk of the rain could come after golfing hours.

ComboPGAcomparison

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

BMW Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, August 22nd

It’s really solid stuff to start the tournament out; winds will stay below 10 mph all day and could actually drop to nearly 5 mph by the afternoon. There’s a low chance of an afternoon downpour.

Friday, August 23rd

Winds stay manageable, mostly 5-10 mph through the day. Winds could be a touch higher in the afternoon than morning, but likely not noticeably so. There’s a low chance of an afternoon downpour.

Saturday, August 24th

A classic “winds build through the day” setup, with lighter AM winds increasing to 10-15 mph sustained winds and gusts over 20 mph by the afternoon. Again, a chance for some late-day rain.

Sunday, August 25th

Winds look fairly steady on Sunday, I’ll say around 10 mph. One last chance of some late-day downpours.

BMW Championship Weather Thoughts

I don’t think we see much of an edge weather-wise in the BMW Championship. If you forced me to pick a wave, I suppose I would go with Thursday PM / Friday AM, but I think the difference is minimal.
