BMW Championship Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Sam Burns

We’re teeing off just a bit northwest of Baltimore, MD, this week for the BMW Championship, and with light wind and only 1 day of potential storms, the forecast looks pretty good for golf.

As usual in my PGA weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

BMW Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, August 14th

The only day with a chance for storms, we’ll be watching the potential for a spotty shower or storm in the afternoon hours. Outside of that, things look great; calm winds early will slowly climb by the afternoon but will peak around just 5-10 mph.

Friday, August 15th

Rain chances are gone and winds remain light, around 5 mph early and 5-10 mph by the afternoon. Temperatures will warm into the mid-90s.

Saturday, August 16th

We’re keeping the same weather pattern with no rain and light winds into the weekend. The heat is noteworthy with feels-like temps around 100 degrees, but that’s about it.

Sunday, August 17th

Closing it out dry and generally pleasant (if you can call 95 degrees pleasant). Winds are light at least, 5 mph early, maybe up to 10 mph by the afternoon.

BMW Championship Weather Thoughts

I don’t see a big edge to be had here; with light winds all tournament long, there’s just no way to use weather to our advantage. If you are worried about a rain delay on Thursday, you could avoid it with a Thurs AM / Fri PM build, but the chances of a delay are fairly low anyways, and rain doesn’t impact scores the way winds do, so I would recommend you ignore it and just build your lineup however you want.
