Broncos vs. Chargers – NFL Player Props

Bo Nix UNDER 21.5 Completions (-122, FanDuel)

The Chargers’ defense has struggled on a down-to-down basis in recent weeks, but their high rate of zone coverage could help them put together a better performance tonight than we have seen from them recently. Nix ranks 35th out of 40 qualified quarterbacks this season in success rate against zone coverage. When these two teams met in Week 6, Nix had only 19 completions on 33 attempts. Playing on a short week and on the road, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Denver place a little bit more emphasis on the ground game to take some pressure off of their rookie signal caller.

Gus Edwards OVER 9.5 Rush Attempts (-108, FanDuel)

As poor as Edwards has looked this season, the reality is that the Chargers don’t really have many alternative options in their backfield. A lot of fans would love to see what Kimani Vidal looks like with an expanded workload, but Vidal hasn’t exactly done much to earn a larger role either. He has only 43 rushing yards on 11 attempts across his last 2 games. Edwards is the clear No. 1 option for the Chargers ground game near the goal line, and he figures to see the majority of work in other short-yardage situations as well. He had 8 attempts this past Sunday in a game that the Chargers lost by 23 points. He should be good for 10+ rush attempts on a short week against a divisional opponent.

Justin Herbert UNDER 3.5 Rush Attempts (-130, DraftKings)

Herbert doesn’t have a consistent role as a runner in the Chargers offense. Many of his attempts come down to quarterback kneels, quarterback sneaks, or scrambles. As a result, there are days like last week where Herbert ends the game with 0 rush attempts. There is a risk here that the Chargers win and are taking a knee to end the game, but Denver’s defense should be able to do a good job keeping Herbert in the pocket. The under on Herbert’s rushing yards could also be worthy of consideration in this spot.
