Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Sam Ryder

We’re headed to Bermuda for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, and the strong winds we’ll see will have you understanding why Bermuda is a famous spot for shipwrecks.

As usual in my PGA weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, November 13th

It’s ugly stuff right out of the game. Winds in the morning should be around 20 mph sustained with gusts around 30 mph. Those winds should taper off a bit in the afternoon, but it’s still breezy even then. A rain shower is possible at any time as well.

Friday, November 14th

It’s another fairly windy day; I expect sustained winds around 15-20 mph through the day. My current lean is that it’s closer to 15 mph in the morning and 20 mph in the afternoon. Rain is again possible at any point.

Saturday, November 15th

Somehow it gets even windier as we head into the weekend, with peak winds Saturday coming in around 30 mph sustained with gusts up to 40 mph. Current thinking is that the strongest winds come towards the middle of the day, late morning or noon-ish.

Sunday, November 16th

If you guessed we’d get 1 last windy day, you are right! Winds should steadily increase through the day, peaking in the afternoon with sustained winds around 25 mph and gusts close to 40 mph.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Thoughts

These are some monster winds that we’ll have to contend with all tournament long, so make sure to pick some golfers who can manage inclement weather. I have a slight lean for a Thursday PM / Friday AM build, though I’ll admit that the lack of forecast model availability in Bermuda does have me feeling a bit less confident than usual in the outcome here.
