CBB Daily Plays: Tuesday, February 17th

Ladies and gentlemen, we have two fine days of college basketball action on the docket while the NBA All Star Break wraps up.

Both FanDuel and DraftKings are offering some massive prize pools tomorrow, and today will provide a nice appetizer to tomorrow’s glorious slate. Let’s take a look at some of the top targets for tonight’s games. I’ll focus on the FanDuel pricing in this article.

GUARDS

Jerian Grant ($9,400) – Of all the stud players available tonight, Grant seems to be the one finding his way into most of my lineups. The matchup is golden against a fast-paced Wake Forest team that has allowed its share of big games to opposing playmakers this season, and Grant is peaking at the right time. Following a mid-season lull, Grant has been playing very well of late with several games in the 30s and 40s, fantasy-point wise. He should push more towards his ceiling tonight in this up-tempo contest.

Levi Randolph ($7,400) – Alabama draws a very nice matchup this evening against an up-tempo Auburn team that really struggles on the defensive end of the floor. The Tide will also be without Ricky Tarrant for another game here, so Randolph should be the focal point of the offense. He almost always plays 35+ minutes, and he is one of the safest plays on the board today for your cash games.

Charles Mann ($6,200) – The injury news keeps on coming for Georgia. JJ Frazier has become the latest Bulldog to suffer a concussion, and he will miss tonight’s game against South Carolina. That should mean a few more minutes and a few more shots for both Charles Mann and Kenny Gaines. Both are decent options, but I will lean towards Mann given his stronger history and the fact that he has the ball in his hands a lot.

Michael Albrecht ($5,800) – Speaking of injuries, Michigan has been absolutely devastated by them throughout the season. Spike Albrecht has become the starting point guard, and he is basically counted on to play the whole game nowadays. He has hit at least 20 fantasy points in each of the last four games, and he has a very safe floor given the fact that he will play 40 minutes barring extreme foul trouble. Even against Michigan State, he should be able to do enough to make value.

FORWARDS

Jarell Martin ($8,100) – Jarell Martin has battled foul trouble a bit lately, and that has caused him to have a few sub-par games. The price difference between him and teammate Jordan Mickey is now over $2,000, and Mickey is simply too expensive to target right now. Martin has a similar upside at a much cheaper price. If he can stay out of foul trouble tonight, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see Martin as one of the highest scoring forwards on the slate tonight. He’s a fine pick at this price, which is as cheap as he has been in a long time.

Marcus Thornton ($6,300) – Thornton has been a relative disappointment since returning from his injury, but I am not ready to hop off the bandwagon yet. As noted above, JJ Frazier will be out tonight, and that should open up a few more looks for Thornton and company. It’s not the best matchup here against South Carolina, but it is a home game and the volume potential along with the discounted price are too good for me to ignore.

Shannon Hale ($5,400) – As I mentioned above, Alabama draws a great matchup against the weak Auburn defense today. Auburn is especially vulnerable on the interior. The problem here is that Alabama doesn’t really have a lot of consistent players inside. Hale gets the recommendation from me because he tends to be the most consistent, and he’s also available at a very affordable $5,400 price tag on FanDuel. There is a bit of risk here, but he matches up very well with Auburn’s big men.

Ruben Guerrero ($5,000) – If you are looking for a bargain bin play tonight, look no further than Ruben Guerrero. Over his last four games, he is averaging 29 minutes per game and 20.50 FanDuel points per game. At just a $5,000 price tag, that average pays off 4x his salary, which you would be very happy with from a punt option. Give Guerrero a look if you need a salary saver in your lineup on this Tuesday.
