CBB DFS Slate Breakdown: January 20th

Last night was something else. You had a bunch of late news, especially the Castleton stuff, then Jaden Springer was a surprise inactive, multiple people like Duruji and Dru Smith getting two fouls early – it ended up being one of the more random nights that I have seen since I have been playing. It just goes to show you, that odd things happen at times and that is why leverage exists in GPP. With CBB, the sport is significantly higher variance than you would expect, especially if you have played NBA before, which means that going against the grain in GPPs is a great strategy.

Kentucky (74), Tempo: 73

Kentucky is NOT back as they got smacked by Alabama and lost to Auburn over the weekend and now we have absolutely no idea what Cal is going to do with the rotations. Isaiah Jackson played 11 minutes, Olivier Sarr played 15 and honestly, Jacob Toppin ($4,200) and Lance Ware ($3,400) have arguably looked better. Toppin is getting some love, especially in the last two games that he has played over 20 minutes. I would be surprised to see him play under than that here and even though there is some risk involved, he projects well at those numbers and is a value play you can consider. I am probably more likely just to return to Keion Brooks ($6,500) here, but the problem is that Brooks has not really destroyed value in any game, and he has had a price increase. While I expect him to perform well at this price, the overall projection is poor, and he is not going to be in my cash lineup.
