CBB DFS Slate Breakdown: Tuesday, March 1st

It’s crazy to think we are already into conference tournaments as it seems like the season just started a couple of months ago. If you haven’t checked it out already on my Twitter, I am running a contest that is essentially the same as the Jerome (pick every conference tournament champion), just with a $100 buy-in – I am accepting entries until 6pm tonight. Anyway, let’s get into this slate which is full of some strange pricing and probably will involve a lot of concentrated ownership.

Tennessee (81)

After defeating Auburn in the last game, Tennessee gets a chance to rest here against one of the worst major conference teams in the nation. Georgia is an instant boost to any team’s fantasy prospects with their fast tempo and awful defense. The problem is that Georgia’s interior is absolutely pathetic and is something we usually target, but the Vols don’t really have anyone to abuse that. Sure, Brandon Huntley-Hatfield ($3,600) is cheap but he’s never played over 20 minutes this year and John Fulkerson ($5,000) is back with 24 minutes in the Auburn game. Zakai Zeigler ($6,200) is a nice player, but I feel like you would just rather load up on the guys who are actually going to play 30+, and that is Josiah Jordan-James ($6,800), Santiago Vescovi ($7,200) and Kennedy Chandler ($7,500). All three guys are very solid options here as they are the ones going to get the minutes. I am not particularly worried about any matchup – just being on the court against Georgia is a boon to a player, and all three make sense as plays. Vescovi and Chandler are your best projections and the safest options, but James arguably has the best point per dollar upside with his 5 category upside – he’s also a bit riskier.

Cash Viable: Santiago Vescovi, Kennedy Chandler
