Friday, March 20

Wow. What an absolutely crazy day of college hoops. The great part of it is that we get to do it all over again today. Today means a lot for the survivors as everyone is going to be fighting for a spot in cash. There is a pretty hefty cut for the Cinderella today and also a decent cut for the Survive the Madness. You are probably going to want to not go completely for safe plays, as you will need some upside in this day as well along with having a solid roster all around. We can only hope that today is as crazy as yesterday was.

New Mexico State

Tshilidze Nephawe ($5,900) – First off, you don’t have to try to say his name. You can just call him Chili, as that is what his team lovingly calls him. Nephawe missed a lot of this season when New Mexico State struggled but is back, and they have lost only one game since his return. He is bigger than anyone that Kansas can throw at him today and is a rebound monster when out there, with a decent touch around the rim too. We learned yesterday that taking solid game logs against big conference teams can backfire (see Lindner, Nick and Mondou-Missi, Steve), and we should only look if the price is right and the matchup is right. I think both are here, as Nephawe should be one of the main options for the Aggies today since Kansas really does not have a front line which can do much against him.

Kansas

Wayne Selden ($5,000) – What do we do here? Selden has not been able to be trusted for a long time because all he does is score, but he has posted two great games in a row and has been basically their main form of offense. Ellis is back but did not look 100% in the last couple, and Selden is so cheap. There is not much value on the slate today and we can be certain he is going to get his minutes. Will he come up with enough rebounds against a very tall NMST team to give him the upside if he does not score 20?

Perry Ellis ($7,900) – Selden is cheap and I expect him to be very popular, but New Mexico State really pushes you off the three-point line and forces you to take some really bad long twos. They have a solid interior defense but I think this is a scheme matchup for Ellis where he should succeed. He should be at full strength here, and with Kansas projected for over 70, I think he has a solid game, especially because I do not believe this will be a blowout. This should be a very interesting game for the first game of the day, and while I would not use Ellis in straight cash games, he has big upside.
