Georgia – Georgia brings back everyone this year and is expected to be fairly improved from last year. This game should be a grind it out effort against Georgia Tech whose roster has been depleted. Ken Pomeroy’s rankings have Tech winning by one, but I actually like Georgia here. The starting lineup for the exhibition was Charles Mann, Taylor Echols, Kenny Paul Geno, Nemanja Djurisic, Marcus Thornton. Echols is a walk-on from last year who has gained a scholarship this year however is not very good so we can ignore him here. Kenny Paul Geno actually played less than Echols last year, and I do not think he’s an option either.
Prime Plays
Charles Mann- He’s the big (6’5) point guard for the Bulldogs who had a horrible time last year with an absurdly poor 24% turnover rate. I expect that to drop with a year at the point experience and the whole summer to practice. He makes a solid cash game play tonight considering he takes a ton of Georgia’s shots and is very involved in the offense despite the turnovers.
Secondary Plays
Marcus Thornton – Thornton posted some solid games last year and was definitely an option at times. I’m exercising caution with him tonight as Georgia has a solid freshman post player named Yante Maten who has definitely impressed in the exhibitions. There are better options out there that do not carry the risk of Thornton, but he could be an interesting GPP gamble.

Georgia Tech – Brian Gregory has brought in some solid players and I already do not like what I see here for fantasy purposes. The good players on the team from last year are gone sans Marcus Georges-Hunt and the returners may get the starts earlier in the season with some of the better performers starting later. The frontcourt is loaded with bodies in transfers Demarco Cox, Charles Mitchell, and Robert Sampson who sat out last year. They also have Quinton Stephens who will get minutes. The backcourt has Tadric Jackson, Chris Bolden, Corey Heyward, Travis Jorgensen, and Josh Heath.
Prime Plays
None
Secondary Plays
Marcus Georges-Hunt – If you want to take a gamble on a Georgia Tech player, Georges-Hunt is your guy. He’s the most skilled at this point and has the most experience on the Yellow Jackets at this point. He’s the only guy I can feel confident that Brian Gregory will roll out and leave in if he struggles.
