Sunday, January 4th

Welcome to the end of a crazy week in college hoops. There have been a ton of games this week, and I am looking forward to having Sunday to just watch some games enjoy the night. Today is another game filled day, but it should not be as upset filled as a lot of the remaining undefeateds went down yesterday.

UCF at Temple

UCF

Primary Plays

None – UCF spreads the wealth around, and the minutes. They probably will not score too many points as they are projected to lose handily to Temple today. This is not a place where I am looking to spend my salary dollars.

Secondary Plays

None – With one of the lowest scoring teams on the slate, I see no reason to risk it here with UCF. Their min salary guys are very inconsistent and their guys who are higher salary, I would actually rather roll with the Temple players here.

Temple

Primary Plays

Jaylen Bond – I really like Bond today against the weak UCF interior. Bond remains at 5,600 and has put some solid games together when playing well. Even though UCF has a beast of a man in Justin McBride, I still think Bond is going to have a great game tonight as UCF allows teams to shoot almost 50% from inside the paint.

Jesse Morgan – I underestimated how good Morgan would be for this Temple team. He is playing almost all of the available minutes and has been a 16-7 performer since becoming eligible. His price has risen, but Temple has a great matchup today and I will be targeting their players heavily.

Secondary Plays

Will Cummings – Despite the eligibility of Morgan, Cummings is still the leader of this team. He is a legit 40 point upside guy when his shot is falling and someone that should be looked at today. Due to his high price, I do not think a lot of people will be using him which makes his upside nice to pair with a GPP roster.

Houston at Tulsa

Houston

Primary Plays

None – Tulsa is playing a mean defense under Haith and really keeping teams off balance. A lot of guys on Houston, like Pollard and Stiggers are overpriced, and I do not trust Knowles and Rose right now. I would just avoid this as Houston may not break 60.

Secondary Plays

Danrad Knowles – “Chicken” Knowles is a solid GPP gamble, and could be a cash game play depending on how you view it. While Tulsa has a solid interior defense, they are not all that tall and Knowles has a decent block rate. He has had some massive games but also a really low floor. I do not like him very much but he is cheap and does have high upside.

Tulsa

Primary Plays

Shaquille Harrison – What else can you say about Harrison right now? He is absolutely on fire as he has 4 games of 35 or more points in a row. Houston is a fast tempo team with a terrible defense who allows a lot of offensive rebounds. I see no reason why Harrison’s string won’t continue, and he should again be the leading scorer for the Hurricane.

Secondary Plays

Rashad Smith – Smith has spent the last 3 games playing solid minutes and scoring over 20 fantasy points. I do not like him too much, but there is something to be said about the most trusted post man on Frank Haith’s team. Smith has low upside but he also has a decent floor and should do well in this game against a terrible Houston defense.
