CBB Grind Down: Thu, Dec 4th
Glean insight from one of the game’s best, Varncass, as he lists picks he’ll actually be targeting in his tournament games below, along with detailed analysis and reasoning.
Thursday, December 4th
Four games tonight which is somewhat disappointing considering the big slates we had the last couple of days and the Big 12/SEC challenge still going on. Despite that, it is still worth playing as there are a couple of games with some massive over/unders and some with some good value plays.

LSU
Primary Plays
Josh Gray – Gray is only priced at 5,800 here for a guard who at least tries to do it all for LSU. Gray is a primo scorer when given the opportunity and has also contributed with steals and assists this year. This game is going to be uptempo, and I love him as a cap-saving option today, however I have one big concern. West Virginia is #1 in turnover rate with their pressure defense, and if Gray turns it over 10 times, it will completely kill his fantasy score.
Secondary Plays
Jordan Mickey – I am as high on Mickey as about anyone, but I was extremely concerned when I saw the line for this game and LSU was 10 point underdogs. That is some serious prediction by Vegas that LSU is going to get blown out, and I really do not like using my top salary guys in games where their team is going to get blown out. That being said, Mickey has been great when he has played this year and his block upside is incredible on FD.
West Virginia
Primary Plays
Juwan Staten – Staten has not been great this year as he has had others to step up for him and has not had to do everything like last year. He is a bit cheaper now, sitting at 7,900 and still brings 40 point upside on a good night. Tonight should be good as this game is projected to be uptempo and West Virginia looks to score almost 80 here. Staten loves these types of games and should be a solid high dollar play today.
Daxter Miles Jr – Miles starts, but does not always play the whole game. I would like to think that his last few games Huggins has taken him out because of the game really never being in jeopardy, however I cannot be certain that his minutes floor will not be 15 today. Miles does not do much other than score, but if he puts in 15 points, he is sure to make value. At times, you need to find some of these 4,500 starters to fill in the extremely high upside guys in your lineup.
Secondary Plays
Jonathan Holton – Holton has been great for the Mountaineers so far this year. He has the highest offensive rating and is also contributing in rebounds and assists. I do not like his matchup against the LSU frontcourt, and I think he is a little bit overpriced.
Devin Williams – Williams has a tough matchup against the LSU frontcourt as well, but he is 700 cheaper than Holton and was a guy I thought would really break out this year. He has not yet, but the 15 rebound game is going to be coming at some point in the future.
