Thursday, January 29th

We have a very interesting slate. The sites did not decide to use the Rutgers/MSU reschedule which starts at 6 p.m., so we have a normal 7 p.m. runoff with some bad teams and some interesting pricing. Some people will enjoy not having a ton of games to work with, but I think there is going to be a lot of overlap with some of the popular picks tonight.

Maryland

Jake Layman – While I am not that big of a fan of this game in general, I do like Layman if you want to take someone from Maryland. I would only recommend him as a GPP play, however. Maryland is away at Ohio State and both teams have been playing at a slow tempo for the past couple of weeks in Big 10 play and Ohio State’s defense is nothing to scoff at. I do like him because the Ohio State interior defense is a mess, and I think the Buckeyes are going to have issues defending Layman’s inside-outside game. His price is lower than we have seen it and he has 35-point potential.

Ohio State

Jae’Sean Tate – A quick note about Russell – He is extremely expensive and this is not a great matchup like the last game was. That being said, if you want to take him, I cannot really argue against it except for the fact that he needs 40 plus points to make value. Aside from his last hot run, he really struggled to hit 40 points and I just do not think the value is there in a game where I like the under. As for Tate, he is the one who is not expensive but could put up a really nice stat line. He played almost the whole game against Indiana because of the matchup, but I think he has garnered more minutes in every game. Maryland is not huge inside and Tate should be able to do some damage. I think he gets 30+ minutes of run and makes value fairly easily.
