Glean insight from one of the game’s best, Varncass, as he lists picks he’ll actually be targeting in his DFS games, along with detailed analysis and reasoning.

Thursday, March 5

We are that much closer to Selection Sunday. Small conference tournaments are in full swing, and Arch Madness tips off tonight, which is usually one of the best tournaments of the year. That may change this year, as Northern Iowa and Wichita State are so far above everyone else. The Ivy will essentially be handing out their bid on Friday with the massive game between Harvard and Yale, which should be a doozie, and don’t wait to catch your breath, because the tournament championship games will be coming fast.

Temple

Will Cummings ($7,600) – This is not my favorite game to target. It is going to be a low pace game with a lot of made shots, which will hurt Bond a bit because there will not be very many offensive rebounds. The good part of it is that Cummings should be able to score at will and do whatever he wants against this ECU team who does not play any defense. ECU is terrible, and at $7,600 Cummings makes one of my favorite plays of the night, even in a game which is under 120 total points.

Jaylen Bond (7,200) – I do not like Bond a ton, but you have to like the personnel matchup against ECU. He dominates weak frontcourts, which is what ECU has, ranking nearly last at interior defense. While there will not be a lot of rebounds, he should make it count, as ECU is one of the worst rebounding teams in the nation and Bond is one of the best rebounders in the nation. He will be able to push around the ECU defense at all times,so he makes a solid play today.

East Carolina

None – Not here against Temple, I cannot do it. Robinson has been playing better along with Guilmette, but they run so many guys and it is just such a bad matchup against a top 10 defense in the nation in Temple. This is an easy fade for me, as they will struggle to break 60 and there will not be enough possessions even at home to make up for their shortcomings.

Wisconsin at Minnesota

Wisconsin

Frank Kaminsky ($10,400) – If you can afford him, go for it. He destroys any team and is matchup proof with a 30 point floor. He showed us he has 50 point upside if the shots are falling, and Wisconsin is scoring a lot of points and is making a case for NPOY, which he should take fairly easily in my opinion. He needs 42 to make value, but you are really paying for that nice floor you get with him. He has a good matchup especially against Minnesota here, as they have absolutely no one who can match him inside and on the perimeter.

Minnesota

Andre Hollins ($7,500) – Hollins would be a GPP gamble only, as I liked him last time out against Wisconsin and he did not perform. Wisconsin pressures you into shooting contested threes or long twos, which Hollins likes to do, and he is really the only guy on Minnesota who can score consistently outside of the lane other than maybe Carlos Morris, whose minutes are inconsistent right now. Hollins in the right situation, especially at home, and could go for 30 game points here if given the keys to the car and allowed to shoot when he wants. If Minnesota is going to compete here, there will be a lot of Hollins jumpers going in, but that alone makes him very risky, as Wisconsin is naturally the big favorite.
