Wednesday, February 11th

We have a really interesting 15-game docket tonight for college basketball. We are just minutes away from the NBA All-Star break where we could see some really nice uptick in traffic. If you are coming over from NBA preemptively, we break everything down here for you and you can get a head start on getting into the strategy before the real games start. We have Kris Dunn and D’Angelo Russell today, who are probably the two biggest fantasy studs in college basketball right now. and we also have a couple of really interesting games at the end of the night.

Syracuse at Boston College

Syracuse

Rakeem Christmas – Christmas put up a 26% usage rate in the last game after learning about the postseason ban (which is only about 1% higher than usual), so I am not sure that that will have an effect on his production. He is still going to get 40 minutes per game, still going to be the go-to guy in the offense, and still going to have a great matchup against a very below average Boston College team, who gives it up inside. Christmas has block upside and grabs a double-double essentially every game, making him a very safe play. I think his ownership will be lower today because of Russell and Dunn on the same slate, but he could carry greater cash game value.

Boston College

Olivier Hanlan – If you want a GPP play who has an extremely low floor and a great probability of success tonight you can look at Hanlan. He is great at getting his own shot and should be able to make a few threes against the Syracuse zone. He is expensive, but with Russell, Dunn, and the other extremely high priced guys that the masses will flock to, Hanlan is going to be under-owned in this game. This game is projected to be extremely close and with Hanlan’s massive usage rate and similar tempo-free numbers to D’Angelo Russell, I really love him as a GPP gamble.

Dennis Clifford – To pay for the studs, you are going to need some $4,500 players here on FanDuel. Clifford fits the bill, and is also forward eligible which makes it easier to fit the studs into the lineup. Clifford has block upside and if Boston College ever decided to go zone, it would help the foul situation as he will most likely be guarding Christmas who is going to take it right at him. He is a risky min price play, but he can allow you the cap room to play the big guys.

Penn State at Ohio State

Penn State Ohio State

Penn State

Brandon Taylor – With Newbill getting all of the attention, a full healthy Brandon Taylor should play good minutes in this game and be a decent gamble play for a solid game. Ohio State plays an uptempo style which should suit him well. With the Ohio State defense focusing on Newbill, I am expecting Taylor to get back to his 20 PPG type of day. He is underpriced here and should be considered to drop a few of the studs into your lineup tonight.

Ohio State

D’Angelo Russell – Fading him before did not work and I really do not see how Penn State stops him here today either. With Loving still suspended as of the writing of this, Russell is again going to have to take a massive amount of shots and be totally involved in the offense just like he was against Rutgers. Another 60-point game is not in the works, but he is very hard to fade at any price today considering his last month of work. He is at home against a team that Ohio State should dominate along with his prior history and usage rate puts him as the top play on the board despite his price.

Jae’Sean Tate – Tate is the safer play for me above Diop on FanDuel. The prices are somewhat similar as Diop has risen to $5,200 and Tate is $5,800. Tate is much more of a cash game lock as he is locked into 30 minutes per game and I would be extremely surprised if he went under 20 fantasy points today while Diop is still a bit of an unknown commodity as we only have one game of data under our belts and it was in 19 minutes of somewhat unsustainable work.
