CBB Grind Down: Wednesday, January 14th
Glean insight from one of the game’s best, Varncass, as he lists picks he’ll actually be targeting in his tournament games below, along with detailed analysis and reasoning.
Wednesday, January 14th
If you are thinking about jumping in and playing some CBB DFS, this is the perfect time. First, playing now gets you more prepared for the NCAA tournament, when a lot new players come in and the volume increases, and second, conference play brings adjustments for the coaches and players, so it is almost like joining a whole new season. Come on in, the water is warm and it is only going to get more profitable.

SMU
Nic Moore – Moore’s price has gone up on FanDuel but he still remains one of the better bargains. He hits 20 fantasy points nearly every game and if Josh Brown is the one defending him, he should be a lock for that today. He is underpriced due to his usage rate and assist rate, and the entrance of Kennedy should only help him as I have noted before.
Temple
Josh Brown – Keep an eye on the status of Will Cummings for this game. He was injured last game and if he is to sit, Brown would get a huge jump as the only real point guard on the roster. Brown would almost play the entire game and would be close to a must play if Cummings sits at his price.
Jesse Morgan – SMU allows 37% of their allowed points to come from 3 which is the 10th most in the nation. Temple should get a lot of open looks and I am not giving up on Morgan yet. He still managed to get into double digit fantasy points despite going 1/17 from the floor and 0/13 from 3 in the last game. The volume is there and he is not that bad of a shooter. I would not be afraid to roster him again, as he will get his opportunities. I like how the Mustangs lineup defensively, so I am off Bond today with his rising price and would stray more towards the Temple perimeter.
Notre Dame at Georgia Tech

Notre Dame
Martinas Geben – Well, Auguste is out indefinitely with academic issues which is horrible news for the Irish. Essentially everything he does in the post is light years better than Burgett or Geben. Now we have to decide who is going to be the guy who takes the minutes? My vote is on Geben who has played double digit minutes in a few of the last games. He is going to have to come through, and should play a major part in the rotation. Make sure you check Twitter close to tip to get confirmation on who is starting, because that is the min-priced guy I would use.
Pat Connaughton – Connaughton was the best rebounder on Notre Dame before Auguste’s suspension but is now clearly the best. He is going to have to compete inside with the tough Georgia Tech players, and should be able to pick up a few more rebounds as he will be forced to do a lot of work inside. He is one of the safest plays on the board today as I think he is a lock for 25+ fantasy points. He is shooting 46% from 3 on the year and is a nice bet for a double-double.
Georgia Tech
Charles Mitchell – He burned a lot of us on Saturday, but that does not mean that he was a bad pick. He takes more shots than Cox, is a better rebounder, and an all around better player, so I would go back to Mitchell today against an Auguste-less Notre Dame front court that Mitchell should push around, similar to how a bully pushes around the smaller kids on the playground.
