Wednesday, January 21st

There is a nice 12-game slate for today, which is getting us ready to hop into the weekend with the massive January Jam tournament. There are a couple of solid matchups tonight with some high pace teams, but there’s a lot of balance, and there are some games that you can essentially ignore as well.

Memphis at Tulsa

Memphis

Trahson Burrell – I am finding it hard to trust any Memphis players, especially after the Nichols debacle last Saturday. Pastner plays his entire bench and there does not appear to be a rhyme or reason for how he subs in and out his players. Be advised, that taking any Memphis player is a risk and they could be suspended or play small minutes based on what happens during the game. That being said, I think Burrell is the best play by salary on both FanDuel and DraftKings and if he avoids a suspension should be some of the most minutes on the team. He takes a lot of shots, scores well, assists well and is generally a decent play. Tulsa’s defense scares me but I think he is the safest play on Memphis.

Tulsa

Shaq Harrison – Woodard’s price has come to rest with Harrison, or close to Harrison and I would rather have Shaq in this case. Harrison is one of the best slashers in the country, getting to the free throw line and making layups while Woodard is more of a jump shooter. Harrison does more of the work in blocks and steals so he makes a very nice play on FanDuel. I think the decision is clear there, but I still like Harrison on DraftKings due to Memphis’ great three-point defense which should push Woodard off the line a bit and not give him any open looks.

North Carolina at Wake Forest

North Carolina

Kennedy Meeks – Is it bad that I am really struggling to find a Tar Heel play that I really like in this game? It should be close and high scoring as Wake plays a fast tempo and is at home, but none of the UNC players really intrigue me because of the deep bench and the spread out opportunities on this team. Meeks is the best play in my eyes, although he only played 18 minutes last game. If he gets big minutes again in this one I could see a monster stat line because Wake Forest is just so weak in the paint. Devin Thomas will not be able to stop Meeks from backing him down and he really makes matchup problems for the Deacons. The problem is minutes, and the rest of the team taking all of his opportunities.

Wake Forest

Codi Miller-McIntyreUNC has done a nice job of defending the perimeter this year, but CMM likes to drive and score a lot which I think he will do today. He is extremely cheap on FanDuel and definitely worth a gander on DraftKings as well at 7,700. He is playing at home against an uptempo UNC team, and should lead a lot of fast-break opportunities while making it happen in the half court. He contributes in all facets of the game and is one of my favorite plays tonight.
