CBB Slate Breakdown: February 27th

We have an interesting slate here, again mostly devoid of slam dunk high dollar options but with lots of value. It should be interesting to see where the field spends up their money as there is a decent argument to leaving some dollars on the table as most of the elite players over 8k are in poor matchups. Let’s get into it.

Texas (68), Tempo: 67

The last time these two teams played, I imagine I said do not play anyone from the game and then they went out and played to a 79-77 70 tempo game with almost no defense. That was back when both TTU and Texas had elite defenses, and now they are sitting 23rd and 34th. Even though the defenses are only above average now, the Texas team does not have many great plays. I think you could argue for both Greg Brown ($5,500) and Andrew Jones ($6,700), but Brown has an extremely low floor and Jones is going to cost a pretty penny. The good thing about Jones though is that he keeps shooting the ball – double digit shots are almost a guarantee. The bad thing? He has been terribly inefficient lately. He is 8 for 38 in his last 5 games from three and is not doing much better from two. Somehow, he is still getting enough peripherals though to maintain solid fantasy scores. There is risk if he stops shooting, but big upside if he starts making them. Matt Coleman, Courtney Ramey and Jones are guys that I kind of look at almost the same. Ramey is generally the worst projection of the bunch, so I never really look at him and Coleman just happens to be the most expensive after 2 30 point games so I do not want to use him. I am not interested in multiple players from Texas, so it is Brown or Jones for me here against a good D and only in GPP.
