CBB Slate Breakdown: January 30th

Alabama (77), Tempo: 74

It’s hard to say anything bad about this game – these are two high tempo teams with suspect defenses, and this is one of the highest overall totals on the board. The problem with Alabama is that their guys are generally not elite plays – we see it depicted in the fact that Herb Jones ($7,600) is the most expensive player on a team like Alabama who plays about as fast as they can possibly play. Oklahoma’s interior defense is pretty good, so normally I would not like someone like Jones, but Jones is an extremely interesting player – he is a swiss army knife that does a lot of the ball handling and the playmaking for this team. I think he is a great play here due to his 5-category upside and is one of the better plays on the board. If you read my stuff, you know I think that John Petty Jr ($6,800) is undervalued this year. We are getting to the point where he might just be who he is at this point, but he is usually under-owned and I am always good playing him here. Jaden Shackelford ($6,200) is the 3rd option offensively, and a fine option. I prefer the other two guys as they have better rates and have been playing better, but Shackelford is fine. Josh Primo ($5,400) has seen his price rise a bit and he is essentially reliant on threes. I am not playing him at this price, and the rest of the team is splitting 20 minutes across the board like Alex Reese, Jahvon Quinerly and Juwan Gary.

Cash Viable: Herb Jones
GPP Upside: John Petty Jr

Oklahoma (76), Tempo: 74
