CFB DFS DraftKings Main Slate Breakdown: Week 3
Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming CFB DFS main slate on DraftKings. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan will do a deep dive into the best stacks, running backs, and wide receivers before giving his overall thoughts on some slate strategy.
Week 3 of College Football DFS is here, and it’s time to sharpen our focus. After Auburn’s passing attack, led by Payton Thorne, derailed some promising GPP lineups for me—much like those featuring Arkansas RB Ja’Quinden Jackson—I’m ready to bounce back and replicate my overall success at the RB position. With an extra week of data, I’ll have more information to capitalize on this slate.
This week, we’ve got rivalry games already: Oregon vs. Oregon State in a Big Ten vs. Pac-12 showdown! We also have bigger sample sizes, players emerging as the top choices for their teams, and plenty of other things to help us make better decisions. Let’s dive into Week 3, break down the key matchups, and find those winning plays!

CFB DFS DraftKings Picks: Top Stacks, Running Backs, & Wide Receivers for Week 3
Stacking & Bring-backs
Jalen Milroe ($10,000, QB, Alabama)
Germie Bernard ($5,900, WR, Alabama) or Ryan Williams ($5,600, WR, Alabama)
Will Pauling ($5,100, WR, Wisconsin)
Jalen Milroe has the potential to hit the 300/100 bonus any week, and he just needs the right game script to push him there. It’s evident that Alabama’s offense wants to take deep shots, with their top two targets having an average depth of target (aDOT) over 15 yards. The key receivers are Washington transfer Germie Bernard and 17-year-old true freshman Ryan Williams. Of the two, Williams has been getting the one-on-one opportunities, but Bernard isn’t far behind. While Milroe can be played without stacking an Alabama pass catcher, the upside of 300 passing yards while both receivers are priced under $6,000 makes me want to include at least one of them here. The fact that this stack is being projected to be low owned makes them my favorite stack on the entire slate.
Alabama’s secondary has benefited from weaker opponents so far, and Wisconsin could find success through the air in this matchup. Tyler Van Dyke isn’t great when the first read isn’t open, but against Alabama’s current corners, he might not need to be. In last week’s game, the USF quarterback missed several big-play opportunities due to inaccuracy, and with Alabama lacking a reliable answer at cornerback, Wisconsin’s passing game could exploit this weakness. I love Will Pauling here and Bryson Green as well. I don’t think I will go to Van Dyke because of the running QBs that are below him in price.
