CFB DFS DraftKings Main Slate Breakdown: Week 3
Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming CFB DFS main slate on DraftKings for Week 3. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan’s deep dive into the best stacks, running backs, and wide receivers is a must-read before you start building your lineups.
There’s more information to work with this weekend, as most teams across the country have now played in a competitive matchup. While this slate does feature some noncompetitive games, there are also matchups I expect to be much closer than projected, offering massive upside. With top-tier options available at every position, it’s a great opportunity to get different and gain leverage on the field.
As always, check out our CFB DFS projections. Dan Gaspar – MrTuttle05 – has been on a heater in the DFS streets and has consistently crushed with his projections. The projections will be updated all the way up to each game’s lock, making sure you’re always working with the best and most timely information.

CFB DFS DraftKings Picks: Top Stacks, RBs, & WRs for Week 3
The biggest takeaway from this graph is Oregon State’s heavy usage of man coverage, which ranks among the highest rates so far this season. There’s a Texas Tech WR I’ll highlight later who owns a 40% target share against man, making him especially intriguing.
On the zone side, Pittsburgh brings frequent blitz pressure and plays zone behind it. They’ll be sending the house against West Virginia this weekend, and there’s one clear option I like in that matchup versus zone.
Central Michigan continues to load the box and bring pressure, which sets up an intriguing Michigan team stack this weekend. I think this is the perfect spot for Bryce Underwood to attack downfield, and Central Michigan is the type of defense to allow it.
As for Texas Tech, their tendency to sit in Cover 3 all game will make one Oregon State player stand out above the rest. It’s actually a part of one of my favorite game stacks of the entire weekend.
Game Stacks
Eli Holstein ($7,400, QB, Pittsburgh)
Desmond Reid ($8,500, RB, Pittsburgh)
Raphael Williams Jr. ($5,000, WR, Pittsburgh)
Cam Vaughn ($4,600, WR, West Virginia)
The Backyard Brawl is one of the best rivalries in college football, and this season, I expect Pittsburgh to put on a show against Rich Rodriguez. His defenses have consistently struggled against slot WRs, and that’s exactly where Raphael Williams Jr. has been dominating. With Holstein at QB, Williams has a 40% slot target share and is averaging 3.07 yards per route run.
While Desmond Reid isn’t the centerpiece of this stack, Holstein has consistently looked his way. Given West Virginia’s aggressive style, I expect Reid to be heavily involved in the screen game. He hasn’t been a workhorse so far this season because they’ve been saving him for games like this, making him an intriguing complementary piece in this rivalry spot.
With no Jahiem White and no Jaden Bray, this sets up as a massive opportunity for Cam Vaughn. Pittsburgh is going to sell out to stop the run, forcing West Virginia to prove they can move the ball through the air. The only real path to high-level offense for WVU in this matchup runs through Vaughn, and it’s going to depend on the deep passing game. Vaughn is also averaging 3.71 yards per route run against zone coverage this year, and that big play upside is there.
