CFB DFS DraftKings Main Slate Breakdown: Week 8
Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming CFB DFS main slate on DraftKings for Week 8. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan’s deep dive into the best stacks, running backs, and wide receivers is a must-read before you start building your lineups.
The Week 8 CFB DFS slate is packed with explosive offenses and potential shootouts, but this is one of those weeks where getting the quarterback position right can make or break your lineups. There are several slate-breaking options who appear to be flying under the radar, creating plenty of flexibility to mix in the strong chalk at running back and wide receiver while still building unique lineups.
There a few slate-swinging injuries to monitor; that’s why our CFB DFS projections are so important. They’ll be updated constantly on Saturday as news breaks, giving you a read on ownership and lineup edges. Our projections team will be letting you know in our RotoGrinders Discord what’s being updated, so make sure you are in there as much as possible.

CFB DFS DraftKings Picks: Top Stacks, RBs, & WRs for Week 8
There are three man-heavy defenses on this slate, and Arkansas is the one worth highlighting. They trust their front seven to contain quarterbacks and their corners to hold up in coverage, but neither unit has delivered this season. That breakdown sets up one of my favorite stacks of the week, which I’ll touch on shortly.
As for TCU, their defense runs a lot of zone coverage, and their safeties are aggressive coming downhill to disrupt passing lanes. I’m very interested to see how that group holds up against Baylor’s explosive passing attack.
Washington rarely uses two-deep safety looks, instead trusting its corners to win on the perimeter. Against Michigan, I fully expect that approach to continue, especially since Michigan’s passing offense hasn’t looked sharp.
On the other side, Michigan should stick with its two-high coverage looks. They’ll want to keep their safeties split with eyes on the backfield to contain Washington’s run game and limit explosive plays downfield.
There are plenty of other nuggets I will discuss below, so let’s get right to it.
Game Stacks
Marcel Reed ($8,500, QB, Texas A&M)
Mario Craver ($6,800, WR, Texas A&M) and/or KC Concepcion ($6,100, WR, Texas A&M)
Mike Washington Jr. ($6,800, RB, Arkansas)
Reed has scrambled just as often as he’s had designed runs this season, but when he faces man coverage, he’s pushing the ball downfield. He’s averaged an aDOT of 13.4 yards against man looks (per SIS), which ranks 3rd in the country among quarterbacks with at least 50 pass attempts in those situations. Reed is clearly hunting big plays when defenses go man, and Craver has been the main beneficiary.
Craver is averaging over 5 yards per route run against man coverage and ranks 2nd on the team in targets versus that look. I slightly lean Craver over Concepcion this week, but it’s close – Concepcion still commands more volume and carries similar big-play potential with a comparable aDOT.
I don’t think you need to force a bring-back here, but I wanted to highlight Washington. Texas A&M is vulnerable on the ground, and Washington has been dominant in this backfield. Earlier in the season, Robert Henry from UTSA ran for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns against this defense, and since then, A&M has mostly faced teams using split backfields. Washington has the workload and matchup to take advantage.
