Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I am playing a variety of contests, from higher-stakes contests that have fewer entries to the big tournaments on both sites with 100+ lineups. In the lower-stakes contests, I am not worried about being different. In the large fields, I want to play the QBs who look like they can win tournaments if they hit their upside, and I want to pair them with a variety of WRs, not just the guy who got the most targets last week for that particular team. If I think the QB can win with his legs, I don’t want to pair those guys at all.

MrTuttle05: On FanDuel, the Oregon running backs stand out so much from a value/projection standpoint that I think the obvious tournament strategy is to invest (at least a little) in their passing attack. If touchdown variance goes the way of the passing game, then you capitalize by having Moore + his receivers in your lineup and not having the potentially chalky Oregon RBs. On DraftKings, I typically eat chalk at RB and spread out exposure at WR, and that looks to be the play again this week.

stlcardinals84: This is a really interesting slate. We don’t have a single game with a total higher than 56.5 points, which is a bit rare for college slates. Between the FD and DK main slates, there are 16 total games available, all with spreads under 10 points. That means we will have a lot of reasonably close games that aren’t necessarily shootouts. For DFS, this means that I am going to be game stacking much LESS than usual. I think the winning rosters this week are simply the best individual plays, without trying to worry too much about having correlation within a specific game. I will make sure to be overweight on Bear Bachmeier and underweight on LJ Martin, and that is my flag-plant stance for the week.

Jordan Vanek: The biggest edge right now is figuring out how teams that didn’t play anybody in Week 1 will perform in Week 2. I believe we saw the UCF version of Scott Frost from his first go-around, and I expect this offense to score a ton of points. I don’t believe we saw a prepared California team, and I think Syracuse’s new defensive coordinator has one of the most difficult schemes to play against in the entire country. Taking stances like these can go a long way, and ownership projections leading up to lock on Saturday will help put everything together.
