CFB DFS Slate Breakdown: Week 2 (Late Slate)

Miami -8.5 (31) vs Appalachian State (24)

Miami

In the three losses for App State last year, they let the starting quarterback run for at least 43 yards (Grant Wells, Levi Lewis, and Grayson McCall). D’Eriq King presents a sizable challenge in that facet as we all know what he can do with his legs. Due to King’s and Miami’s struggle against Alabama, you really get King at a discount of what he should be for a matchup like this where they have an implied total of 31 points. Appalachian State gave up almost 300 yards and 2 TDs to the terrible Holton Ahlers last week. They will struggle with D’Eriq King. I like King as an option across all varieties of DFS contests. He gets Mike Harley back after Harley missed most of the Alabama game. He’ll find much easier passing lanes as well since he isn’t playing the second best defense in college football. Running game was somewhat evenly split between Cam’Ron Harris and Donald Chaney. From what I saw of this game, Chaney looked better than Harris but there really wasn’t anything impressive going on from either, especially early. Chaney is almost half the price of Harris at only $3,700 for DraftKings, but I’d still relegate consideration to GPP last lineup slot punt. I wouldn’t consider Harris. For receivers, Rambo is finally priced appropriately this week after being too cheap, only $4,200, last week. Mike Harley being back (and expensive) caps some of the value for a guy like Key’Shawn Smith, who was the lone bright spot for Miami against Alabama. Will Mallory who was silenced versus Bama is the way to pair with D’Eriq King if you so choose. He is only $3,5K and will factor more heavily than he did against Bama. I like him a lot as a punt option.
