CFB FFwd/Rew Week 6
Welcome to Rewind/Fast Forward. Each week in this article I will hand pick several games and watch them through. Sometimes the box-score can lie and the only way to know the truth is by actually watching the game..or reading an article of someone who did. That is me. I will break down my observations of the previous game and what impacts it could have on the following week and even the entire year moving forward.

| West Virginia 30, No. 11 Oklahoma State 21 | Kansas State at No. 21 Oklahoma State | West Virginia at No. 17 Baylor |

- Rewind This game was ugly for me as I was all on Jeremy Smith of OK State. He carried the ball 15 times for 1 whole yard…and fumbled to end up in negative points for the day. Trying to run in this game was like pulling teeth. It just went nowhere. Josh Stewart looked good though as they finally targeted him plenty.
For West Virginia, they have no offense really. A defensive TD and a bunch of FG’s. Turnovers really helped get WV their other TD’s on offense. Their main offense right now is throwing it to Sims out of the backfield.
- FFwd OK State gets Kansas State this week and I would expect a better effort out of the running game. Jeremy Smith is still the lead dog and goal line guy so I would stick with him. It’s a nice matchup as Kansas State ranks 90th in the nation in run defense. Of course Josh Stewart looks to be back on track now, so he is a solid play.
West Virginia gets Baylor. The line is already set at a whopping 4 TD’s with Baylor favored. This game will be a blowout. How Baylor gets their points is the tough call. They can run or pass in this one, but WV won’t be able to keep up with their 1 dimensional, check down to Sims offensive attack.

| No. 3 Clemson 56, Wake Forest 7 | North Carolina State at Wake Forest | No. 3 Clemson at Syracuse |

- Rewind This game was a blowout but I wanted to see how Watkins looked since I was a bit disappointed in the early season results. He didn’t look bad but there just seems to be something missing from his sensational freshman season. He took his first pass of the game and tiptoed the sideline for a 64 yard TD. After that he had 5 catches for 49 yards. Not good numbers. This was without Martavis Bryant in the first half. The running game is a no-no for me moving forward. Boyd carries too much at the goal line to let these RB’s shine.
When it comes to Wake Forest there is only 1 name you need to know. Michael Campanaro and that’s it. The running game is bad. The QB play is inconsistent. Through it all Campanaro gets his 7-10 receptions for 100 yards. That’s it.
- FFwd Upcoming for Clemson is a game against Syracuse. This will be interesting because the Clemson defense is decent, but the Orange have a young QB named Terrel Hunt that could score some points. Their defense is also a bit underrated as they have had some tough matchups early season with a pass happy Penn State team and a nice all around team in Northwestern. Boyd and Watkins are the only Clemson options in this game and they may be priced out after last week’s stats.
Wake Forest is home hosting North Carolina State this weekend. NC State hasn’t shown much offense that is fantasy worthy this year and their defense has been pretty good. Campanaro is the only play here for Wake Forest as NC State ranks top 20 against the run and only 57 against the pass.

| No. 9 Georgia 44, No. 6 LSU 41 | No. 6 Georgia at Tennessee | No. 10 LSU at Mississippi State |

- Rewind This was the best game of the weekend and a real shootout. Neither team could stop the other and in the end it was Murray with the late drive for a TD that won it. The problem with the Georgia passing game is that Murray spreads it around so much that there are no viable options to choose from WR’s. Gurley looked strong early but did his usual and get hurt in the 1st half. This is typical from him. Marshall looked good also just not Todd Gurley good.
Georgia tried their best to box in Jeremy Hill and did a good job but when you look on the stat sheet he still ran for 86 yards and a TD. He is matchup proof. Both Landry and Beckham are solid targets for Mettenberger and will trade off big games with Hill healthy.
- FFwd Georgia gets Tennessee this week and this is a classic letdown game. Coming off a thrilling win against LSU Georgia may be a bit hung-over the 1st half. More than likely we won’t know about Gurley until the game kicks off since college coaches don’t need to report these things, so I think Gurley and Marshall are off limits unless you hear something definitive. Murray would be the only play in this one for Georgia in my eyes.
LSU travels to Mississippi State in a less than exciting matchup against a run of the mill team. All the skill players for LSU are solid plays and I would lean to Hill a bit more due to the solid matchup. This Miss. State team gave up 286 yards rushing to Oklahoma State (same team that couldn’t get it going against West Virginia) and the other matchups for them have been nothing to fear (Alcorn State and Troy with Auburn sandwiched).

| Arizona State 62, USC 41 | No. 22 Arizona State vs. Notre Dame | Bye |

- Rewind Bye bye Lane Kiffin it was nice knowing you. In the words of Donald Trump. YOUR FIRED!! If this game was more competitive I think Kiffin still has a job. But when you get shellacked like this and give up 62 points you get fired. This game was close for about 1.5 Q’s. Then Arizona State blew it out. Grice was the stud here as he is a TD machine. Jaelen Strong looked decent but unspectacular.
USC is just not good right now on offense outside of a solid RB named Tre Madden. Who knows if Silas Redd is coming back this year but if not, Madden is solid.
- FFwd This week Arizona State takes on Notre Dame and this should be fun. Notre Dame will be able to put up points on this team through the air so Rees and his receivers are in play here. Avoid the RB’s for ND. For the Sun Devils, Grice is a stud. Strong is an option, although only for that good low salary on DK if it is still in the $4K range. The QB Taylor Kelly is also an option although I have seen enough of Marion Grice stealing TD’s that I am staying away.
