CFB Injury Breakdown: Week 10

Injuries news can be difficult to gather in DFS college football, and therefore RotoGrinders will have a weekly injury report highlighting the key injuries across the country and possible value plays that can pop up because of them.

Quarterbacks

Kenny Hill & Kyle Allen – Texas A&M – No injuries to worry about here, but it’s still the story with the biggest fantasy impact this weekend. Kevin Sumlin reopened the QB battle between Kenny Hill and Kyle Allen and whoever comes out on top is set for a very nice matchup against Louisiana-Monroe. Now, if Kyle Allen get the nod, then he becomes a near must start option on several sites where he has a dirt cheap asking price. UPDATE: Allen will get the start. Give him a look

Jeff Driskel – Florida – After weeks of ineffectiveness, Florida has finally made the move to bench Jeff Driskel. That move opens the door for the talented Freshman Treon Harris. Harris has been effective in small doses this season and projects to be a rather dangerous dual-threat QB for years to come in Gainesville. He’s an intriguing option this weekend against a UGA secondary that has been suspect in years past.

Justin Worley (Shoulder) – Tennessee – This situation is a mess for daily fantasy; Worley has yet to be cleared to play, but also hasn’t been ruled out yet either. If he can’t go than Josh Dobbs would draw another start, but this could also be a bit of a “time-share” against South Carolina. Unless things clear up, this is a situation to avoid.

Davis Webb (Ankle) – Texas Tech – Webb was forced out of last weeks game with an ankle injury and was seen hobbling around on crutches, yet Texas Tech still lists him as questionable. Either way, the Red Raiders are facing a Texas team that’s allowing just 167 yards through the air per game this season. If he can’t go than the dual-threat Patrick Mahomes would take over, but shouldn’t be trusted outside of GPP’s.

Darell Garretson (Wrist) – Utah State – The revolving door of QB’s will continue for Utah State. After injuries have struck Chuckie Keeton, Darell Garretson and Craig Harrison over the past three weeks, the Aggies will turn to Kent Myers on Saturday against Hawaii. He’s the 4th String QB for Utah State, so it’s hard to recommend him with much confidence, but he’s worth a look as a minimum priced option in GPP’s.

Others to monitor: Taylor Kelly (Arizona State), Gunner Kiel (Cincinnati), Dak Prescott (Mississippi St), J.T. Barrett (Ohio State), Trevor Knight (Oklahoma), Chad Voytik (Pittsburgh), Brandon Bridge (South Alabama), P.J. Walker (Temple), Cody Kessler (USC), Cyler Miles (Washington), Tanner Lee (Tulane)

Running Backs

Thomas Rawls (Knee) – Central Michigan – Rawls suffered a knee injury on the opening series last week and never returned to the game. While his status isn’t clear at this point, there are signs pointing that he’ll be sidelined against Eastern Michigan and their atrocious rush defense. Saylor Lavallii filled in with 80 rush yards and a pair of TD’s last week and his stock would shoot through the roof if Rawls is sidelined.

Zach Laskey (Shoulder) & Charles Perkins (Knee) – Georgia Tech – Both Laskey and Perkins will miss Saturday’s game against Virginia, giving Synjyn Days another chance to impress. Days rushed 22 times for 110 yards last weekend, but Broderick Snoddy vultured all of the goal-line duties. With Virginia allowing just 100.4 rush yards per game, you’re likely better off looking elsewhere.

Zach Zwinak (Leg) – Penn State – Zwinak will miss the rest of the season after being hurt on the opening kickoff last weekend and Akeel Lynch and Bill Belton look likely to split duties in the Nittany Lions backfield. Belton is the more comparable back to Zwinak and likely stands the most to gain here, so give him a look against the very soft Maryland rush defense.

Others to monitor: Duke Johnson (Miami), Keith Ford (Oklahoma), James Conner (Pittsburgh), Elijah Hood (North Carolina), Elijah McGuire (UL Lafayette), Javorius Allen (USC), Aaron Jones (UTEP), Lavon Coleman (Washington), Rushel Shell (West Virginia)

Wide Receivers

J.D. McKissic (Ankle) – Arkansas State – McKissic is the leading receiver on Arkansas State this season (42 catches for 482 yards) injured his ankle and his status for Saturday’s game is in doubt. While it’s generally expected that he’ll play, it’s worth monitoring as the Red Wolves will take on the 1-6 Idaho Vandals. Both Tres Houston and Dijon Paschal would likely benefit if McKissic was forced to sit out.

Devante Davis (Hand) – UNLV – Davis has missed UNLV’s last four games and his status for Saturday’s game is once again in serious doubt. He’s a viable option if it’s clear that he’ll start, but otherwise Devante Boyd should continue to have success. However, it’s highly likely that they rely heavily on their running game against this terrible New Mexico rush defense.

Dres Anderson (Knee) – Utah – Thanks to a knee injury, Utah will be without their leading receiver for the rest of the season. They rely heavily on the ground game anyways, but Kenneth Scott, Kaelin Clay and (TE) Westlee Tonga should all see their share of the extra targets against a subpar Arizona State secondary.

Andre Davis (Suspension) – South Florida – Andre Davis has been suspended for the first half on Sunday. He can do damage in a hurry, but should be avoided this weekend.

Others to monitor: Geremy Davis (Connecticut), Tony Pierson (Kansas), Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma), Josh Doctson (TCU), Trevon Brown (East Carolina), Darius White (Missouri), Keyarris Garrett (Tulsa)

Tight Ends

Jordan Leggett (Knee) – Clemson – Jordan Leggett was lost for the season with a knee injury against Boston College. While he’s not an overly appealing option, Stanton Seckinger hauled in a TD grab last week as his replacement.

Others: Wes Saxton (South Alabama), Rory Anderson (South Carolina), Alex Welch (Miami-Ohio), Brandon Lingen (Minnesota), Connor Cella (Rice)
