CFB Slate Breakdown: Week 1 (Thursday Night)

Week Zero was a slate where if you were underweight on chalk like I was, you got crushed. Really couldn’t profit if you didn’t have at least two of Chase Brown, Daewood Davis or Malachi Corley. Together they put up almost 100 fantasy points at 136% combined ownership.

But we move onto a huge Week 1 of the CFB season with three days of great slates starting on Thursday night.

DraftKings has an 11-game main slate with five of them being FBS/FCS matchups. DK is also going back to their roots and the main GPP is a $150,000 prize pool with $50,000 to first place (33%). This is definitely frustrating when the Week 0 main filled and was a much better payout structure.

FanDuel has a 6-game main slate with only 1 FBS/FCS matchup in SCST/UCF and a $50,000 prize pool with $10,000 to first place.

Let’s go!

Ball State @ Tennessee (-35) Total: 68

Ball State (16.5)

Drew Plitt is gone and it’s John Paddock’s ($5,600) time at QB. Tennessee is going to push the tempo but I will pass on him in his debut. Carson Steele ($5,500) should once again be the No. 1 guy at RB but I don’t think he will find his way into any of my lineups as isn’t really involved in the passing game.

The two guys I like are at WR as you know Ball State will be throwing and Jayshon Jackson ($4,600) and Yo’Heinz Tyler ($4,900) return after leading the team in targets in 2021. Jackson is very cheap for a guy who had 108 targets and Tyler is a big red-zone threat. I would just limit myself to one of these two and move on.

FD Note:
Steele ($6,300) is pretty cheap so don’t mind him as much here. Tyler and Jackson’s prices are also flipped and Tyler has a better chance for a TD so he’s preferred.

Tennessee (51.5)
