Chargers vs. Cardinals – NFL Player Props

JK Dobbins UNDER 2.5 Receptions (-120, Bet365)

JK Dobbins has 3 receptions in more than half of his team’s games to begin 2024, but his usage as a pass catcher is likely to decline with Kimani Vidal in the picture. There is little doubt that Vidal is a more explosive player after the catch, with Dobbins and his 225-pound frame being better equipped to run between the tackles. Dobbins is more likely to see a heavy workload on the ground than through the air.

Justin Herbert UNDER 10.5 Rushing Yards (-110, Bet365)

Justin Herbert has been little more than a statue so far this fall, with 6 rushing yards or fewer in all but one game to begin the new campaign. The new Los Angeles offense is very traditional in the sense that it sees its quarterback as having a presence in the pocket, with the vast majority of the running opportunities going to the team’s running backs. Herbert has also dealt with some lower-half injuries already this season, making it unlikely that he’s going to push the envelope here unless there is a completely broken coverage from the defense. If the Chargers win, there is also the possibility that he gives some yards back with a kneel down or two.

James Conner UNDER 65.5 Rushing Yards (-117, Bally)

The Chargers’ run defense has been excellent under new leadership, ranking 9th in DVOA, 1st in EPA/play, and 2nd in success rate through 5 games. Conner has a few spike weeks already under his belt in 2024, with 86 yards against the 49ers, 104 yards against the Commanders, and 122 yards against the Rams. The one thing all those defenses have in common is that they all rank 20th or worse in DVOA against the run this season. This is a tough matchup for Conner, yielding some value on the under.
