Charles Schwab Challenge Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Jordan Spieth

This week brings us to an underrated gem of a city, Fort Worth, TX! We could see some rain as early as Thursday afternoon, and winds become an issue by the weekend.

As usual in my PGA weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Charles Schwab Challenge Weather Forecast

Thursday, May 22nd

Starting out great, with 5 mph wind early morning and only 5-10 mph by the afternoon. The sticking point here will be a few late-afternoon storms that fire, which could potentially cause a delay. Those storms could also kick winds up, though in theory, play would be stopped for the actual storms before the winds impact things.

Friday, May 23rd

A bit breezier than Thursday, but still a pretty solid day. Winds should be around 5-10 mph through the morning, increasing to 10-15 mph by the afternoon.

Saturday, May 24th

Winds get going a bit by the weekend. Likely dealing with 15-20 mph sustained winds for most of Saturday, with gusts higher than that.

Sunday, May 25th

Winds look a bit elevated still on Sunday — 15 mph sustained winds with higher gusts. We also see a return of rain and storm chances by Sunday afternoon.

Charles Schwab Challenge Weather Thoughts

The first couple of days look decent enough that I don’t foresee a major “draw advantage.” I suppose I have the slightest of leans towards a Thursday PM / Friday AM draw. It does bring a chance for a delay on Thursday afternoon but should generally bring slightly lower peak winds than a Thursday AM / Friday PM build. Again, I don’t think it’s going to be a massive difference maker, nor am I super confident that it will even be an advantage. The weekend could be a bit tough, with winds picking up and rain returning Sunday. Don’t forget to check out our PGA DFS optimizer, LineupHQ, to make the most of your builds!
