CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Friday, July 23rd

Happy Friday! Just as expected, we had another low scoring slate last night with our second straight day topping out seven runs scored by any team. At first glance, tonight’s 14-gamer looks to have a lot more upside offense to break out of this funk. We also have quite a few high-end pitchers with clear upside as well. Let’s jump on in and see if we can sort through some of this.

Friday Night Pitching

There is sort of a top tier of aces with these six pitchers all coming in above a 29% strikeout rate on the season:

Zack Wheeler vs Braves
Freddy Peralta vs White Sox
Gerrit Cole at Red Sox
Lucas Giolito at Brewers
Joe Musgrove at Marlins
Tyler Mahle vs Cardinals

Not far behind that top tier is another group of very good pitchers, with some good matchup sprinkled in here as well:

Jake Odorizzi vs Rangers
Frankie Montas at Mariners
Eduardo Rodriguez vs Yankees
Yusei Kikuchi vs A’s
Max Fried at Phillies
Zac Plesac vs Rays

And then we’ve got maybe a bit of a comeback for an old friend at a discount:

David Price vs Rockies
