CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Friday, July 30th

Happy Friday! The MLB trade deadline is bringing a ridiculous flurry of big-name players to already loaded lineups, and we’re likely to see a few more moves today. The good news is that with the deadline at 4pm today, we won’t have to worry about players getting traded after games lock tonight. But we are going to have a bit of guesswork on lineups who have brought in new players or shipped them off, as it can take a day or two for players to be cleared to start with their new teams. This just means that you don’t want to get too locked into your lineup building plans until we start to see lineups released this afternoon.

On the field, we’ve got a full 15-game slate that has plenty of everything. The pitching is pretty jumbled, so let’s dive in and see if we can find some separation.

Friday Night Pitching

This is one of those slates where we have almost the entire slate of pitchers at least somewhat viable in MME. There is very little separation in the top tier, so I’m going to look at this in two big buckets, based on DK pricing. The salaries are quite a bit more spread out on FD, with the top three pitchers over $10K followed by a clearer pricing drop to the second tier. This is what the big picture tangled mess looks like:

SALARY TIER ONE

Lance Lynn vs Indians
Corbin Burnes at Braves
Kevin Gausman vs Astros

Jameson Taillon at Marlins
Sonny Gray at Mets
Jose Berrios at Cardinals
Framber Valdez at Giants
Chris Bassitt at Angels
Patrick Sandoval vs A’s
Zach Thompson vs Yankees
Zac Gallen vs Dodgers

UNDER $8K ON DK

Tony Gonsolin at Diamondbacks
Tarik Skubal vs Orioles
Logan Gilbert at Rangers
Touki Toussaint vs Brewers
Kolby Allard vs Mariners
Ryan Weathers vs Rockies
