CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Friday, June 18th
Happy Friday! We’ve got a good old fashioned barn burner tonight! It’s a full 15-game slate with aces, strong mid-tier pitching and all kinds of upside offense to spend on. I have ended up with a pretty tight pitcher core and a bigger group of offenses to build around. But even there, I’m still not going to attempt to talk about every viable option, because that’s pretty much every baseball player in the league tonight. What I see as the most important aspect to this slate is to figure out what your primary player pool is before you start building lineups. This is not the slate where I recommend just plugging in the first five players you see and then clicking whatever fits around them. Even if your lists are completely different than mine, get yourself a targeted list to start from. Otherwise, this slate ends up with a headless chicken type of feel. Barn burners and headless chickens? Let’s get into it!
Friday Night Pitching
This is a slate with a deep pool of pitching options, but mostly all in the mid-tier and above. I don’t see any cheap options that I have much interest in at all, but that is going to be aided by the fact that the second tier is potentially even better than the top tier based on some of these salaries and matchups.
Four Aces With Questions
Similar to what we saw last night, the best pitcher on the slate is in Coors Field. Again, this does not remove him from consideration by any means, but it makes it a more interesting decision. This is what the rest of the aces look like, along with Corbin Burnes:
Corbin Burnes at Rockies – 41.5% K, 4.1% BB, 2.27 ERA, 1.96 SIERA
Trevor Bauer at Diamondbacks – 31.6% K, 8.3% BB, 2.64 ERA, 3.38 SIERA
Carlos Rodon at Astros – 37.2% K, 6.5% BB, 1.89 ERA, 2.61 SIERA
Robbie Ray at Orioles – 32.1% K, 6.3% BB, 3.45 ERA, 3.05 SIERA
