CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings - MLB DFS Strategy: Friday, June 3rd
Happy Friday! We’ve got ourselves a big old fashioned barn burner of a slate tonight. 12-games filled with aces on one side and Coors plus plenty more offense on the other side. Let’s just jump right into all this goodness!
Friday Night Pitching
Gerrit Cole vs Tigers – 30.8% K, 6.4% BB, 3.12 ERA, 2.84 SIERA
Corbin Burnes vs Padres – 31.8% K, 4.5% BB, 1.95 ERA, 2.53 SIERA
Shane McClanahan vs White Sox – 36.3% K, 5.4% BB, 2.01 ERA, 2.08 SIERA
Shane Bieber at Orioles – 23.1% K, 6.3% BB, 3.19 ERA, 3.61 SIERA
Joe Musgrove at Brewers – 25.3% K, 4.8% BB, 1.86 ERA, 3.21 SIERA
Logan Gilbert at Rangers – 25.4% K, 7.6% BB, 2.29 ERA, 3.57 SIERA
Nathan Eovaldi at A’s – 25.1% K, 3.8% BB, 3.77 ERA, 3.14 SIERA
Well, bonjour! The lack of pitching on last nights slate is a distant memory with a big group of elite aces to start with tonight. McClanahan, Burnes and Cole rank 1st, 3rd and 4th among all MLB starters in K% this season, while Gilbert, Eovaldi and Musgrove are in the top 20 as well. Bieber isn’t quite there, but is another excellent real-life pitcher who is piling up easy innings. While this is the top tier, it’s not the end of the high-quality arms available tonight. This trio can compete with the top group in skill set, but the matchups will knock them essentially off the board for me tonight:
Chris Bassitt at Dodgers
Max Fried at Rockies
Brady Singer vs Astros
Tyler Anderson vs Mets
On a different slate, these four would be viable even in these matchups, but tonight, it’s just unnecessary with all the high-end options eating up each other’s ownership.

Because of the matchup with the Tigers, Gerrit Cole looks like the easiest top choice, and I can’t argue with it. He has 9+ strikeouts in five of his last seven starts and now gets one of the highest strikeout lineups in the league who also happen to rank last in ISO against righties.
