Happy Thursday! This is one of the most straightforward slates I’ve seen all year. I could wrap this whole slate up in about two sentences, keeping in mind that I love run-on sentences, as you know, and can see here from this one. I’ll write more than two sentences, but this is going to be short in Musings terms. Play Ohtani, play the Dodgers. Actually, just one sentence.
We do have some weather to keep an eye on, with the Royals-Yankees and Guardians-Red Sox games are both at Orange-Yellow to start the day, so there is at least some chance of shenanigans. For now, we’ll just assume everything plays as expected, which means you can just play Ohtani and the Dodgers and go enjoy your day while everyone else overthinks it.
Thursday Night Pitching
Well folks, this is about as simple as it gets. You are legally allowed to spend as much time overthinking and overanalyzing as you want, and I can’t stop you. You are also legally allowed to spread out your exposure and play for outliers anytime you want. But I’m going to be short and to the point when things are this glaringly obvious.
Don’t Overthink It
Shohei Ohtani vs Rangers
Zack Wheeler at Pirates
Overthinking It
Jose Urquidy vs Mariners
Logan Gilbert at Astros
Alex Wood vs Cubs
Yusei Kikuchi vs Tigers
Triston McKenzie at Red Sox
Brady Singer at Yankees
Cheap Darts
Kutter Crawford vs Guardians
Spencer Howard at Angels

Shohei Ohtani is just better than everyone else. He has double-digit strikeouts in five consecutive starts and leads everyone else this slate by 8% or much more in K rate. He’s also only $8,900 on DK for some goofy reason. While you are legally allowed to overthink it, that would be dumb. Don’t be that jabroni. On FD, you are going to be a little more allowed to overthink it where he’s $11,100 and there may be some builds where you just can’t get there, but as much as possible, just play the guy who is clearly better than everyone else.
