CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings - MLB DFS Strategy: Tuesday, April 12th
Happy Tuesday! While every MLB team plays today, we have a few games scattered throughout the day which will leave us with a manageable 9-game slate starting at the usual time of 7:05pm ET. We do have one game with very shaky weather, with Roth starting the day at Orange for the Dodgers-Twins game. Hopefully, we can continue the trend of getting early decisions on postponements. As of now, I’m not going to be including players from that game in my builds, but I will leave it in the Musings, with high-end bats on both sides. Thankfully, we do not have the Oakland-Tampa game on this slate, because what in the world was that about? OK, let’s get to it.
Tuesday Night Pitching
We’ve reached the first day of this season where we’ll see a few pitchers for the second time, though most teams are at their final rotation spot before turning things back over to the top tomorrow. The big picture on these early season pitch counts is that for most pitchers, we should see a steady increase in innings with each start. By the third or fourth game of the year, we’ll be back to normal, but we need to continue to reign in expectations until we see guys fully stretched out.

The Lone Ace
Yu Darvish at Giants
I don’t love the four walks from his first start, but I do love the six innings and 92 pitches. That’s about as stretched out as anyone from the first week, so I see no concerns with workload here. The strikeouts were down, but there’s more good news from his first start with velocity in mid-season form and his usual pitch mix keeping hitters off balance and not allowing a hit. He’s the clear SP1 on this slate, and no priced aggressively on either FD or DK.
