CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings - MLB DFS Strategy: Wednesday, April 13th

Happy Wednesday! Well, Happy Wednesday to everyone who was not a starting pitcher for the Padres last night. We’ve got a busy day with an early start. We’re looking at a 7-game slate on DK and a 9-gamer on FD starting at 12:20 ET. I’m going to try and be less wordy than usual and get straight to the point in order to get this up early enough to be useful for this early start. I’ll check back in later with a Cliff Noted look at the evening slate. You can get any last-minute thoughts I might have on this slate with Crunchtime beginning at 11:50am ET. Weather looks to be an issue in several spots today, so you’ll need to keep an eye on quite a few of these games, most notably in St. Louis and Cincinnati.

Main Slate Pitching

We’re back to the top of the rotation for most teams, which means we have a lot to choose from. It’s tough to make a real clear dividing line between tiers, so let’s just take a look at all the options, and then I’ll work on sorting them out into buckets and narrowing things down.

Aaron Nola vs Mets
Max Scherzer at Phillies
Max Fried vs Nationals
Logan Webb vs Padres (FD)
Sean Manaea at Giants (FD)
Clayton Kershaw at Twins
Nathan Eovaldi at Tigers
Eduardo Rodriguez vs Red Sox
Adam Wainwright vs Royals
Framber Valdez at Diamondbacks (FD)
Josiah Gray at Braves
Triston McKenzie at Reds
Kyle Hendricks at Pirates
Zack Greinke at Cardinals
Merrill Kelly vs Astros (FD)

Top Of The Line Aces

Max Scherzer, Aaron Nola

We could add more guys here, but I’m going to cut off the top tier based on long-term skill set with Scherzer and Nola. Both guys threw six innings with strikeouts and good control in their first starts, and these are skill sets that I am in on. Neither have an ideal matchup and we’re still not at the point in the season where it’s safe to assume that we’re going to get any ceiling games from a workload perspective. At first glance, the FD salaries are a little higher that I’d like for these two, leaving them a bit down the list.
