Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a pitching heavy day with an ace filled 9-game main slate that is going to be even extremely tilted towards two offenses. We’ll get to that shortly, but I’ll start with a quick peek at the 4-game early slate that begins at 12:05pm ET. That’s what we call LUNCHTIME BASEBALL!
Early Slate Pitching
This is a pitching heavy slate, with seven of the eight pitchers looking playable to me:
Charlie Morton vs Mets – 27.3% K, 8.6% BB, 4.21 ERA, 3.55 SIERA
Chris Bassitt at Braves – 24.9% K, 6.6% BB, 3.94 ERA, 3.54 SIERA
Josiah Gray vs Mariners – 26.8% K, 9.8% BB, 4.14 ERA, 3.92 SIERA
Joe Ryan vs Brewers – 22% K, 7% BB, 3.09 ERA, 4.29 SIERA
Aaron Ashby at Twins – 27.1% K, 10.4% BB, 4.52 ERA, 3.36 SIERA
Brady Singer vs Tigers – 23.4% K, 4.8% BB, 4.25 ERA, 3.43 SIERA
Tarik Skubal at Royals – 25.2% K, 6.5% BB, 3.99 ERA, 3.46 SIERA

The strikeout leader is Charlie Morton at 27.3%, though every single one of these seven pitchers are between 22-27.3% strikeouts. But even beyond the overall numbers, Morton’s recent performance has been a step ahead, up at 33.6% strikeouts over the past month and going seven innings in four of his last five. His opponent Chris Bassitt is also a very good, consistent pitcher who can be expected to throw plenty of quality innings every time he takes the mound. But with both these guys priced at the top of the heap, I have a strong preference for Morton as my SP1, with Bassitt as a leftover.
