Happy Wednesday! We’ve got all kinds of slates at all kinds of times with all kinds of games all over the place. Both DK and FD have a 5-game main slate starting at 6:40pm ET, a little earlier than usual. On DK, there will be a larger early slate with 7 games starting at 2:10. Meanwhile, on FD, we get a Very Early 12:35 slate with four games. Yippee!!! What I’ll do here is touch briefly on the two primary early slates, and then be back in a bit with the evening slate breakdown.
FD Early Slate
Braves at Phillies – Charlie Morton at Kyle Gibson
Padres at Tigers – Yu Darvish at Tarik Skubal
Twins at Brewers – Chris Archer at Corbin Burnes
Angels at Royals – Janson Junk at Brad Keller

This is a lot of good pitching for a small slate, and it starts with Corbin Burnes at $11,300 and the strong matchup for Yu Darvish at $10,700. We then get a $1,500+ discount to Tarik Skubal at $9,200 and Charlie Morton at $8,700.
The first thing I’m going to say here is that there is basically no reason at all to consider going any cheaper than those four. We’ll talk about cheap nonsense for the DK slate, but it’s way too easy to get to at least Morton or Skubal.
While the long-term skill set and pure upside for Corbin Burnes is the top on this slate, he has not been quite consistent enough to make him some sort of lock button at this salary. Yu Darvish has been on a roll over the past couple months, ramping up both his strikeouts and innings. For my money, the matchup edge is enough here to push him past Burnes as my SP1. I’ll split them down the middle, but if I’m making one lineup, give me Darvish.
