CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings - MLB DFS Strategy: Wednesday, June 1st

Happy Wednesday and Happy June! We’ve got another day with games spread out all over the place and different slates in different places. I’ll focus on the evening main slates, where we have eight games on both DK and FD. For the afternoon, I’ll touch on the 6-game DK slate, and then add in some FD comments in the Cliff Notes where they have split the day up into two smaller early slate of three and four games. Yippee!

Early Slate Pitching

At first glance, pitching looks almost kind of OK for a 6-game slate, but upon further inspection, it is not OK at all. It’s Verlander and then it’s rough.

Four Aces? More Like Four Decent Pitchers

Justin Verlander at A’s
Yu Darvish at Cardinals
Kyle Wright at Diamondbacks
Carlos Carrasco vs Nationals

It might seem a little offensive not to call Justin Verlander an ace, but 25.5% strikeouts in this day and age is just not great. However, on this particular slate, it’s more than OK when combined with the low walks and the matchup. He had a month’s worth of HR/FB regression last start, and I see no reason to expect that again here. He should have no trouble going 6+ innings and even at a strikeout per inning, that makes him the clear top pitcher on this slate. The way DK is pricing things, there’s no need to overthink this one.
