Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a day filled with baseball, which gives us a handful of smaller slates splattered throughout the day and then a 9-game main slate tonight. DK and FD each have a different 4-game early slate, with a 2:10 start for DK and 4:05 for FD. I’m going to focus on the main slate tonight, but will start with a quick glance at the four gamers.
DK Early Slate
Blue Jays at White Sox – Ross Stripling at Lucas Giolito
Mets at Astros – Carlos Carrasco at Luis Garcia
Phillies at Rangers – Zack Wheeler at Jon Gray
Diamondbacks at Padres – Madison Bumgarner at Mike Clevinger

This slate leans strongly to the pitching side, and you could make at least some sort of case for all these arms. The clear stand out for me is Zack Wheeler, who has six straight quality starts and 7+ strikeouts in 8 of his last 9 starts. He has no weakness in his skill set and a beatable matchup in Texas.
After Wheeler, it is pretty wide open at SP2. Lucas Giolito is the highest upside pitcher, but he’s been wildly inconsistent and has a scary matchup, especially when looking at his numbers against righties this season. I prefer Luis Garcia ahead of Giolito if you can spend up at SP2. There aren’t a lot of strikeouts in the matchup, but this a solid, consistent pitcher with plenty of upside. I would just say that neither Garcia or Giolito are good enough to go too far out of your way to spend up alongside Wheeler.
