CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, June 29th
Happy Tuesday! We’ve got a full 15-game slate with a bunch of everything. We’ll do our best here to sort through some of this, but I can already see so many potential ways to go that it’s going to be very tough to narrow things down. We’ve also got several games with moderate weather concerns, several of them with pitchers who are near the top of the list. At this point in the day, nothing looks dire enough to need to fade any of these pitchers, but definitely keep an eye on the afternoon weather report, specifically for Giolito and Ray.
I am going to post the pitching section of this article first and it will be a few hours before I get the hitting section up.
Tuesday Night Pitching
Well folks, we are absolutely loaded with pitching tonight. The way this has to work with so many reasonable options is that I am going to just gloss over a whole bunch of decent pitchers. You do not need to be offended if the guy you are most excited about doesn’t make my player pool. When I see a slate with this many arms that I can make a case for, I see two options; one is to just play everybody, and the second is take a couple stands and X out a ton of good arms. I’m going to be on the side of taking a stand tonight.
I can’t even completely separate all these tiers, but I still want to get some sort of starting point, so these are the four groups I’m starting with:
ACES
Brandon Woodruff vs Cubs
Robbie Ray vs Mariners
Walker Buehler vs Giants
Lucas Giolito vs Twins
Kevin Gausman at Dodgers
Trevor Rogers at Phillies
SECOND TIER
Charlie Morton vs Mets
James Kaprielian vs Rangers
Jose Urquidy vs Orioles
RISKY UPSIDE
Blake Snell at Reds
Vince Velasquez vs Marlins
Caleb Smith at Cardinals
Andrew Heaney at Yankees
Nick Pivetta vs Royals
Rich Hill at Nationals
MATCHUPS OR SALARY
Kenta Maeda at White Sox
German Marquez vs Pirates
Jameson Taillon vs Angels
Joe Ross vs Rays
JC Mejia vs Tigers
Tylor Megill at Braves
Mike Foltynewicz at A’s
