CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, May 18th

Happy Tuesday! We’ve got a big 14-game slate on tap tonight with a lot of everything. We don’t have quite as top heavy of an ace-tier as last night, but we’re looking at a half dozen or so very good pitchers and then a decent mid-tier that will muddle up the offense. At first glance, my thought here is that I’m going to end up with a very spread out hitting pool and more spread out than usual at pitcher, but let’s dig in and see if that changes.

The dividing lines between tiers are not as obvious tonight as we sometimes see, but this looks to me to be the top tier for this slate. These stats are the 2021 numbers, mostly through 7-8 starts:

Brandon Woodruff at Kansas City – 33.2% K, 6.5% BB, 1.64 ERA, 2.88 SIERA
Zack Wheeler vs Miami – 26.7% K, 6.2% BB, 2.85 ERA, 3.40 SIERA
Blake Snell vs Colorado – 31% K, 15.2% BB, 4.19 ERA, 4.14 SIERA
Julio Urias vs Arizona – 26.9% K, 3.6% BB, 3.26 ERA, 3.23 SIERA
Lance Lynn at Minnesota – 31.2% K, 7.8% BB, 1.30 ERA, 3.34 SIERA
Andrew Heaney vs Cleveland – 33.6% K, 6.8% BB, 4.75 ERA, 2.93 SIERA
Cristian Javier at Oakland – 29.1% K, 9.3% BB, 3.08 ERA, 3.70 SIERA
Jameson Taillon at Texas – 30.7% K, 5.7% BB, 5.40 ERA, 3.13 SIERA
