CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Wednesday, July 28th

Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a 10 or 11-game main slate tonight depending on which site you’re on, and while we do have more good pitching options tonight, there are more high total games with the potential for big offense. I’ll start with a quick Cliff Notes overview of the four-game early slate on DK. I’ll be back in a couple hours with some analysis of tonight’s main slate.

Early Slate Pitching

The early slate is pretty solid for pitching, with some case to be made for just about everyone. Here are the eight pitchers on the board:

Sean Manaea at Padres
Blake Snell vs A’s
Jake Odorizzi at Mariners
Kwang Hyun Kim at Indians
Yusei Kikuchi vs Astros
Zach Plesac vs Cardinals
J.A. Happ vs Tigers
Wily Peralta at Twins

The big decision point on this slate is if you are ready to trust Blake Snell after one good start in Miami. For me, the answer is that I am definitely not ready to trust him anywhere near one iota. He still walked three batters in that game, and if he didn’t have the name recognition, no one anywhere would be playing him based off his 2021 numbers. On a four-game slate, in MME, I’m playing all these guys and sure, I’ll have Snell in the mix, but I am not willing to put him in 50% of my lineups on any size slate.
