CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Wednesday, May 12th

Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a smattering of games throughout today, but the focus is on the 10-game main slate this evening. It’s another day with a lot of good pitching, where you could easily make a case to spread out to a dozen or more pitchers in your pool. But, as always, safety first, so let’s see if we can whittle down these numbers a little.

Wednesday Night Pitching

ACE NUMBER ONE AND ACE NUMBER TWO

Gerrit Cole at Tampa Bay
Brandon Woodruff vs St. Louis

Cole had one down strikeout game last week, but it was still great real-life pitching, and he now has a 1.61 ERA on the season with 8+ strikeouts in six of seven starts. He gets a high strikeout opponent with a ballpark upgrade, and there’s really just nothing to think about here. He’s the ace, and as we see every day, the aces are affordable on DK. FD gets more interesting, where he’s the cash game ace, but we find some interesting options with savings of $4,000 or more, so this will not be an all-in tournament play.

The first pivot off Cole would be Brandon Woodruff who has solidified himself as a 30%+ strikeout pitcher with strong control and not a single flaw anywhere in his skill set. The only issue here is that he’s not Cole and his matchup is slightly tougher for strikeouts. I’m going to go out of my way to get Cole/Woodruff pairings on DK, while on FD, the $1,400 savings is nice, but not enough to move Woodruff ahead of Cole.
