Hittin' The Nuts - Squirrelpatrol's NFL DFS Lineup Advice: Super Bowl 58

HittinTheNuts

Want to hit the nuts and take down 1st place in these massive contests posted by FanDuel and DraftKings? Who better to walk you through their favorite NFL DFS picks than Squirrelpatrol! Undoubtedly one of the best DFS players in the game today, Squirrelpatrol has accumulated 90+ Live Final seats, took 2nd place in the 2023 DraftKings Fantasy Baseball World Championship for a $600,000 prize, and most recently, took down the NFL Milly Maker in Week 2.

The biggest game of the NFL season is here, and along with it, we have some massive contests and prize pools on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The Chiefs meet the 49ers on Sunday to determine the NFL championship, with the 49ers favored by 2.5 points in a game with a 47.5 point total. With two weeks off since the conference championships, there isn’t much injury news to keep up with. The Chiefs have activated Skyy Moore, and it looks like Kadarius Toney and Jerick McKinnon will miss the Big Game – this isn’t news that will have a major impact on our lineups, but it’s good to keep in mind when looking for salary savers.

The player pool for this game has some of the biggest names in the NFL, and they are priced appropriately, but we would expect nothing less for the final game of the season. These teams both feature dynamic offenses and tough defenses, and the close line indicates the game should be competitive throughout. Let’s dig into the slate and figure out where we can get an edge on the field.

Chiefs vs. 49ers Showdown DFS Lineup Advice

How I Plan to Beat the Field

The massive prize pools and the more casual fans that may enter these contests changes my strategy a bit compared to a single-game or showdown contest that I would play during the regular season. For most of these contests, I’d be concerned about avoiding duplication and leveraging projections and ownership to get an edge on the field. With a massive $1,000,000 awarded to first place, I’m not as concerned with finding a unique lineup. For a quick check, finishing in first place on DraftKings in a 20-way tie for the $1,000,000 should yield a nice $84,000 payout. Obviously I won’t aim to play the chalkiest of lineups, but I won’t look to set strict salary cap constraints or come up with complex ownership rules looking to absolutely avoid duplication either. Solid roster construction rules like pairing our QB in the CPT/MVP spot with at least one pass catcher in the flex (and preferably two), and avoiding three or more pass catchers in the same lineup without having their QB in the CPT/MVP still make sense, even as more of the field is following these constructions.
