College Football Baker's Dozen - Week 4

I’m am glad to see week 4 show up! Most teams have played 2 or 3 games so we are no longer just guessing with a lot of our picks. We have some decent sized samples to see how coaches will be using their players and the way the teams play. Lets see what I can do to help you dominate some contests this Saturday.

Here are the 13 things I am looking forward to this week!

1. David Cobb – Cobb is my favorite play of the week. He has everything falling into his favor this week – he gets all the carries, his starting QB is injured and Minnesota is playing something called San Jose State so I don’t think they will be putting up much resistance. I think his floor is 100 and 1 TD and the ceiling is 250 yards and 3 TDs. At only $6100 on DK I think he is pretty much plug and play this week.

2. Steven Lakalaka – Joey Iosefa is injured so Lakalaka will be getting all 35 of his carries vs. Colorado this week. He won’t be sharing any carries and with a price tag of only $4300 on DK you can use him and Cobb at your RB spots and have nearly $40K left for the rest of your line up where you can stack some studs.

3. Clint Tricket and Kevin White – These 2 are staying in the same #3 spot this week. Both players already put up solid stat lines on a neutral field vs. Alabama so I don’t think Oklahoma at home is going to intimidate them at all. Both are reasonably priced even after last week’s explosion and I think we will see more of the same this week.

4. Alex Collins & Jonathan Williams – I don’t think you have to choose between the 2, I am fully for rostering both. Arkansas has absolutely no passing game so they just hand the ball to these 2 all game long. I don’t think NIU is going to put up much defense and I also think they will be able to score on Arkansas so both Collins and Williams should play a full 4 quarters.

5. Paxton Lynch – I don’t know why I like Lynch but I think he can win people some GPPs. He is under priced on by FD an DK and he scores both throwing and running. I think this game with MTSU is going to be back and forth with not much defense played and the last team who has the ball will win. I won’t recommend playing him across the board or really even on FD because these unproven players can put up a stinker but on 2 QB sites he could be nice.

6. Arizona and Cal – Nick Wilson, Cayleb Jones, Anu Solomon and Jared Goff. I don’t think either of these teams have a very good defense and this game should be one of the top 5 highest scoring games. I think this game is similar to last weeks BGSU/IU game where you can stack up players from both teams and win some cash.

7. Jamison Crowder- After a few “off” weeks I think week 4 could be the first monster 10-150-2 stat lines of the year for Crowder. As an added bonus his price has come down across the industry, this could be a nice spot to get a stud at a discount.

8. Nelson Spruce – Spruce has been a machine this year scoring 2 TDs in all 3 games and for some reason his price tag has not gone up that much. This may be our last chance to get him at a discounted price.

9. Travis Wilson and Dres Anderson – I don’t think this is a cash game play and I think it is pretty risky but I think Michigan is a bad football team and could get exposed this week by an average Utah team. For some reason DK decided to price Wilson at only $5600 and he has 40 point potential.

10. Maty Mauk – I think one trend we have spotted this year is target the IU defense. Mizzou gets Indiana at home and should hang a 50 burger on them. If they do Mauck could have another 6 TD game.

11. Maquise Williams – Williams is the teams leading passer and rusher. This weeks game with ECU will be back and forth and I have a feeling Williams could be involved in all the scores for UNC this weekend. He has 40 point potential and this week is a prime spot for that to happen.

12. Amari Cooper – I played him every week for the first 2 months last season and he did absolutely nothing. So I am now going to play him this week so please be aware that Cooper will probably catch 2 passes for about 15 yards. Florida did allow 154 yards and 2 TDs to Kentucky’s top WR last week so I would happily take that out of Cooper this week.

13. Samaje Perine – Legend has it that when Perine falls in water he doesn’t get wet, but water gets Perine. The high school legend gets his opportunity to burst on to the scene this week vs. WVU. This could be the last time over the course of the next 3 years we see his price this low. I’m not too worried about a time share with Ross but I won’t use him in any cash games but he could be a GPP steal.
